Chapter 33: A Talk As Men
Styx says, “Wow Hermano, I see you have been busy.” He is admiring the Road Train. The three separate wagons are each of a simple wooden wagon. The first is wagon is a crude version of an Omnibus. It is more apt to say it’s a cart with a roof and two ten-seater benches. It is followed by two equally crude wagons meant for carrying cargo.
Tyr says, “Please just wait a moment I have to want to check something.” For a while, Tyr has been ignoring a request from the system.
[Activating Inspiritaion]
The Book of Knowledge sits in its own unique equipment slot. Has activated one of its functions. A display bringing up the Omnibus carriages. Each of its individual parts. Tyr starts at the wheels the upgrade option is limited. At his level, he can add Iron to strengthen the spoke and wheel nut. Going to the portable workshop he opens the Chuck box. The Lid of the chuck box can become a small table. Tyr then light the small forge hanging on the side. The system has a series of minigames that mimic the process of forging. In about thirty seconds he creates the upgraded wheels.
Normally the process should take longer however this is a benefit of the Sovereign Race. With his increased rates in production and bonus to crafting rarity too. Tyr can even see new possibilities. Then the axles are next to this is not an upgrade but a modification that goes even quicker replaces a few basic materials for iron. Next is the Wagon he only makes it more angular. Which makes it easier to add, walls and windows to the Omnibus. The process is very simple for as long as he has the materials and follows the mini-game it creates a completed product.
[Soverign class + 1 path point]
Tyr says, “bro I’m done we can sit inside and have your chat.” They both walk into the nearly minted Omnibus. Sitting inside the Omnibus is quiet and cool with the windows cracked open. They have a nice gentle breeze. The windows are large and allow one to see outside.
Styx says, “You need to explain to me. Why we are not working together Lux is right we should form one guild.” Styx doesn’t like agreeing with Lux because he doesn’t trust her and Tatiana but on this point, they agree.
Tyr says, ” Well it’s for the best if we concentrate our power it will invent powerful enemies we need time to grow.” Many guilds, parties and teams have all fallen because they swam into deep water. Tyr is trying to avoid unnecessary drama.
Styx says, ” We need to work together first it will build trust in our team. We have never really worked together like this. This affects our future our families, I think we need to act like a family if you want us to succeed. Money makes people weird friends trust me I know.” Styx clenches his fist as memories flash in his head.
Tyr says, “Let me ask you something? Who controls Unity?”
Styx says, “The old alpha is probably Cantos.”
Tyr says, “No dude I mean in the game who is the largest power there.” Unity had run for twenty-five in open alpha longer than even Galactic Citizen.
Styx says, “It’s one of the extrasolar powers, one of the big eight I can’t remember the name…its…ah…no don’t say it yet…its…Ashton Dynamics!”
Tyr says, “What rank are they now?” Tyr starts using the interwebs looking up Ashton Dynamics. He is trying to plant seeds using his old life memories. This will help with Raul seeing the value of Odyessy.
Styx says, ” They are third why are you even asking this?” He shuffles a bit in his chair looking at the people passing by looking at the carriage. They cant interact with it since they don’t have permission. Tyr had set his Road Train to private as soon as he got it.
Tyr says, “Because this,” Tyr sends him a profile of the growth of Ashton Dynamics. As a publicly traded company, these statistics are freely available.
Styx says sweating and mouth agape, “Is this because of Unity.”
Tyr shakes his head in agreement and says, “This is just Unity excluding all their interests.” Tyr is showing Styx a graph that has an upward curve. This is the growth of the company is exponential. Styx has always had a business-minded. It’s why he so good at collecting information.
Styx stammers his knees tingle at the opportunity before them and says, ” Do you realise what you are suggesting. This is beyond crazy you want to make us a superpower. I thought you meant in-game.” Styx following the number he can extrapolate that as long as they win Oydessy. This is already a stupid idea but if they do it. They would be the Ninth.
Tyr says, “Of course I do but how do I tell all my friends that I want us to be able to change our world for the better without sounding crazy. Just think about a few hours ago I hand never had more than a thousand credits in my account now I’m a millionaire.”
Styx says, “NO I don’t think you understand if I’m reading this right. They only entered Unity officially after five years and still managed all this. We can do the same if we are smart we could become an extrasolar power.”
Tyr says, ” I didn’t know they came late but, my theory (really his memories). So we have to plan big and work hard beyond.”
Styx says, “If you want to become an extrasolar power how can you be afraid of tadpoles?” Styx knows business people they are more ruthless than Warlords.
Tyr says, “I don’t want to be bogged down in stupid fights.” He is trying to sail them to success without hitting many storms.
Styx says, “You are thinking like a gamer. The real powers don’t respect small fries like us. They will use everything in their power to suppress. Bribes, death threats assassination, buyouts and any method available o them. The business world is a culling field.’ Tyr understands this point but until they are actually big why would business mess with them.
Tyr says, ” I don’t think they bother us if we keep our heads down and grow.” Styx shakes his head standing suddenly hitting his head on the roof of the Omnibus. He rubs his head settles down stands in front of Tyr.
Styx says, ” A strong foundation must weather storms. The field we are going into is filled with people who will sell out their mothers to get ahead. At the bottom people are desperate. we will need to be stronger. Have absolute trust in another. Listen to me SIhle I want you to hear what I am saying. Our core group must work together we still do all you want even quicker working together.”
Tyr says, ” If We do that we will be asking for trouble.” Tyr memories tell him how dangerous these companies really are so staying hidden is vital.
Styx says, ” yeah of course if we had twenty years we would do that. Your graph says it right here we have five years to become an iron spike.” Styx eyes are shining bright.
Tyr says, “I’m not sure it would leave us in a state of perpetual war. With these small powers instead of rising in the shadow you will have at the forefront.”
Styx says, “Yes Hermano! Don’t you get it being famous is our best shield? If people know about us we can use them to protect ourselves. Even the companies cant kill all our people.”
Tyr says, “Wait what people what the hell are you on about?”
Styx says, “Yes Sihle, we are going to rope in the whole town. Have each family form a business that is mentioned in the development plan. That way even if we get killed the company will continue. We are playing with our lives to earn the ultimate prize Wealth and power beyond measure. There can be no more half measures.”
Tyr says, “Then we should grow in the shadow slowly right that’s would better. than risking our lives.”
Styx says, “you think like a younger man, a real warrior will kill a child to survive. Companies will work the child not feed that child and tax them to come to work and charge them to bury their parents. You understand now?”
Tyr shivers and says, “you’re exaggerating companies have to follow laws and stuff.”
Styx says, “The law is for people, companies are hardly affected by laws. Just ask the amazon forest.”
Tyr says, “The what forest?”
Styx says, “exactly it doesn’t exist anymore even though it was legally protected. Sihle the only power is power. Give up right now if you are not set on this path. Weak resolve will only get us all killed.”
Tyr says, “How will working together help. That will concentrate our power in one place. It will give them a clear target.” Styx smiles putting his arms on Tyr.
Styx says, “Cabron! That’s what you want. If they focus on us. We can give our weaker allies time to grow the brighter we shine. The longer we need to start making waves as soon as possible. Our strength will invite challenge and as long as we win people around us will prosper. Tyr please believe me it will only make us stronger.”
Tyr says, “that sounds alright I guess plus I have a few ideas on how to make a big splash.” Tyr is flexible this passionate speech from Styx has swayed him. Plus the true hidden value of the Shifting Island will be revealed once players clear the first rank 1 dungeon.
Styx says, “Good we need here is Rachal number, I hired her she is a corporate developer We must meet with her too. Fuck you nearly made me forget why I came in the first place. Look at this” Styx hand him a sword it has a symbol similar to his and SKY Ocean Hunter. Who slithers into the Omnibus.
Tyr says, “What are you doing here?” SKY Ocean Hunter points at Styx.
Styx says, “It involves we have known each other the longest. We have a bond that is unbreakable. We have gone through things that few people have.” Styx is referring to a folded land game they use to play they had been stuck for a real year in a special space in the game. They lived together for eighty years. Raised familiars, went to war and lived full lives this experience bonded them.
Tyr says, “Where did you get this?” The crystal sword triggers something, the mission window is something he has never seen before. The borders are completely black filled with stars and galaxies. Inside is a ‘request do you accept [YES!/no…].’
