Chapter 39: The System Changes
Author of future here: I’m making changes to improve my story. To celebrate being on web novels’ weekly featured I’m doing a sprint releasing as many chapters as I can write in one day! Wish me luck and vote with your power stones.
Earth, Cantos Industries Head Quarters. In the top floor bespoke meeting room. The director is sitting fury on his face. The eight founders families are joining him by Extrasolarnet. These people on the eight displays are his bosses technically. However, it is their interference that has caused this error. The best he can do now is limit the spread of Alpha Sync and Beta Unity. He lets out a deep breath and tries to speak in a respectful tone. Even if some of the people are children they are in direct control of their corporations. Typing underhand creating new Origins for the other systems. This will at least give Ceta Legionos a chance to carry out her core function.
The Supreme Director Learns says, ” This is what I warned you all about during Unity.” He shows them the numerous times they have used founder access. To break the game balance in Odyessy just like they did in Unity. He can’t just say that so he can only act using central directive. The Origin Director types away as The Supreme Director continue his testimony. The supreme director is providing the number of collapsed storylines and broken systems they have created. By outlining the damage they can cover for Overwatch. As they are not in direct control of it.
The display closets to the Origin director. Is an old man with a youthful face. His looks are as contradictory as his eyes. One is a biomechanical implant that doesn’t even look like an eye. He says, “How does this affect our plans, Director Cole.” The Origin Director doesn’t look up but another clone that looks exactly like him does. Pointing at one of his clones, who has worked as the director of operations. The Origin director says, “Director Cole from operations has the floor.”
Director Cole says, ” It crushes them, Sirs! Overwatch has…” The young heir of Mugato Manufacturing. A thirteen-year-old looking albino boy interrupts him.
Mnamdi Mugato says, ” That is preposterous Overwatch is linked to every resource collector we have. Just because we use the agents to control the resource gathers doesn’t mean they should have a share. Our corporations should be able to do as we please it is ours after all.” The younger generation all agree. They have grown up in the light of the big eight corporations.
Director Cole says, ” That is not quite right. Your grandfathers, grandfathers sponsored the creation of this project. Having all the solar systems customers in one place. Giving your companies access to every marketplace in existence. Without the need for building infrastructure. Please you don’t own us we are giving you all an opportunity. Which you have abused repeatedly for over a generation.” Director Cole is not being insulting but each generation has increasingly thought they are the creators of Odyessy and wanting more power. It’s why they had to push Unity to close so early.
Mnamdi can only scoff and fuss his advisors doing their job. This is a unique forum if he embarrasses himself. It will shine a bad light on the entire Mugato Manufacturing. The others of the younger generation don’t say anything. Director Cole nodding and waves for a series of large packet data to be sent.
All the founders’ faces turn ugly. They never thought for a moment the changes will be soo totalitarian. Beyond that the fall out of having players trapped for five hours in-game. The system overhauls will affect Cantos Industries stock.
One of the fears is a repeat of the ‘Star Of Argo’s incident’. Nowadays called the S.O.A. disaster where over fifty thousand players died. Their founder codes have also been cut off. They have lost all special rights in-game and are now like everybody else. System resets are being pushed all over the place.
The Overwatch system will affect changes in the game to rectify the situation immediately. The founders each log off preparing for the changes. In particular, a young lady who is fuming at the system. At least she already secured her Unique class.
Overwatch has enacted its protocols put in place to prevent anyone power from controlling the game illegally. In order to properly effect changes, it changes the placement of the continents moving them closer to another. However, since the whole map is a little more than 61,42 billion km. The continents are still far apart whether it’s separated by sea or some other barrier.
Inside the game, a global event occurred. Tyr smiles he knows that even though only a second past for them in-game. More than five hours have occurred in the real world. This caused safety concerns over the biobeds used to interface into the game. This will allow him to buy a few stocks in Cantos. As shareholders, they will fall under the protection of Cantos Industries and thus only real big major powers will be able to try anything outside the game.
A simply yet critical error is happening in most biobeds. They are unable to properly compress time to such a high degree. Coupled with the memory pushing by the system. Mild brain damage will be caused. Due to the nature of the injury, it evokes the terrible accident. During the Alpha stages of development.
Overwatch goes to the foundation zone. This is the base code of the game here all the fundamental forces exists as code that can be altered. First overwatch tampers with time. Overwatch uses its access to place a still. The still is needed so that Overwatch can work without the need to worry about player deaths. The still freezes all-time in-game. For five hours which is more than enough to fix the changes made by this generation. Overwatch is bound by so many rules that it can only transform certain aspects to bring the game into a universal balance. Overwatch first changes the lineages. Overwatch makes the available lineages balance with one another.
The Lore Director is losing his mind looking at the series of notifications from Overwatch. He can only catch and understand a few changes. He has only ever observed Overwatch work this hard during the subsumption of the Alpha into The beta: Unity.
/System log; Prime entities scrapped, interfaced with dilation matrix.
/System Log; Origins expanded.
The director can see all the continents expand. Each of them is now a complete land like Lugiria. With its own magic, races and history. The biggest change he can see is in heaven or rather Heavens. Now each continent has its own heaven and a new celestial plane above that has been created inhabited by…
/System log; Ancient Quests delineated exponentially.
Supreme Director learns leans back, the number of changes currently happening in the games affects all the major storylines. Even he doesn’t have an idea anymore. The connections between all the major power in and outside the game. It even incorporates history from Unity and the alpha. The Director grabs a log of the Liguria.
Lugiria used to be being the biggest continent now it’s one of eight. Liguria has a maximum of eight major powers. These will be the various kingdoms, empires and Theocracies that players will interact with.
The Lore Director laughs as he sees that Liguria is serving as a template for the others continents. Liguria has the of the steepest learning curves in terms of systems. As the changes have affected the classes the most. At least Overwatch has changed players memories to make everything smooth. The new implant has allowed Overwatch to impress one specific aspect of the memories. By doing so Overwatch makes the player know it is important. A happy coincidence is that the previous less important memories tend to be forgotten.
The Operations Director gets to work with the Lorists trying to investigate all the changes. Cantos needs a basic understanding of the world. Since they plan to help players to prepare for the Everlasting War. In the game, Cantos Industries has been assigned as the Neutral God of Loot. The God of Loot Cantius is good for all entities and is comparable to the Supreme creator thou not as famous.
Tyr gets the confirmation of the share they now own and can let out a relieved breath. Cantos industries has their own personal army for shareholders. It should take about a month for them to arrive. So they should be safe from minor companies and Pale Corporations. Sihle moves forward his plan to handle Barren.
The Origin director opens up his log. The classes have been his interest. The ten base classes have been thoroughly changed. Each class has one attack skill, one utility skill and one passive. Some classes have didn’t exist before do now. Most surprising is the base-> advanced-> Mastered classes. This will give most players effective combat classes until level three hundred.
He clicks the link for Base classes. A drop-down menu appears.
/Base -> Advance -> Mastered
/./Base

-Guardian
-Rogue
-Wizard
-Sorcerer
-Psion
-Artificer

A lather of sweat appears over his whole body. The amount of class complexity has been expanded exponentially. He clicks Summoner a completely new base class.

The Origin director double-checks to make sure. Finding in the information matrix that indeed it is a free class. Free classes can be used by both magical and non-magical beings. Unlike the Wizard and the Warrior as one is a magic locked class and the other a physical locked class. Some classes like the cleric are a combination of both having magical and physical skills.
He smiles as he clicks the advance class the drop-down menu has a hundred classes ready to dive through the information. Advance classes are a combination of two base classes since there are ten base classes that means one hundred advance classes. Starting with the Warrior base he goes through the list.

The Director spends the next few analyzing every class carefully. His investigations allow him to categories every class in the game. The bases classes are for all players regardless if they are active or not. Then for normal players, they have access to focused classes which is when the base is the same as the advance. Then there are the advanced classes which are for the general fighting population. Alongside these are rare classes that have a special requirement just like specialized classes and then there are legendary and Unique classes. The last type is locked out even to him.
