Chapter 111: A Game(1)

I spent the night with Kumo as she rested up. I kept my distance from her, since if I even tried to get close to her, she would start glitching out again, and I feared she would not get any rest. Even just the thought of me sleeping next to her would cause her to go crazy, so instead I told her I would patrol as she rested up.

The moment she fell asleep, I suppressed my bloodlust, and not even a minute later, monsters had invaded my territory.

“This is as good as any time to level up, I suppose.”

So instead of sleeping, I spent the whole night killing the monsters that wandered into my territory, even going outside of my territory to find them. And even after all that, I still had energy to spare.

I spent the day watching over my pack and setting a few things in motion. And at night, it was finally time for me to act. During the day, I had Eira tell me in detail where the other settlements were. The first settlement I would go to was the one run by vampires. That was the entire reason why I had decided to go at night in the first place.

But before I went, I had to deal with the person stalking me since last night. They were stealthy and careful enough to make sure they were watching me from miles out, but without them noticing, I had managed to deploy one of my shadow hounds—a hound which was standing right behind them.

In a blur that they couldn’t even comprehend, I disappeared out of sight, and in my place stood my shadow hound.

“Huh?! What happened?”

The person following me looked stumped when they saw me disappear.

“Why are you following me?” I whispered into her ear from behind, which caused her entire body to jolt. “Don’t move.”

With my order, she had no choice but to obey. Even if she was going to get killed on the spot, it was impossible for her to disobey me and move.

Sweat trickled down her beautiful face as she immediately went on the defensive.

“I wasn’t following you. How dare you even accuse me of something like that!”

“You’re always so stubborn, Isabella.” I couldn’t help but sigh. “Tell you what, I won’t compel you to tell me the truth, but instead we’ll play a game.”

“A game?”

“Yes, and for every lie you tell, I’ll force another truth out of you or force you to do something I know you won’t want to do.”

“I can’t. I have somewhere to be—”

“You don’t have a choice. Anyway, for the first question, were you or were you not spying on me last night?”

Isabella bit her lip, desperately wanting to keep quiet, but it was as if her body wasn’t hers. Whether she decided to lie or tell the truth, either way, she had to answer.

“I wasn’t! Last night I was with Lily. I didn’t even know where you were!”

“Using my own sister as your scapegoat, huh?”

“It’s the truth!”

Isabella knew full well that she couldn’t lie to me. Her body wouldn’t allow it. It would always give some signal to show that she was lying. But she was stubborn.

“For lying to me, your first punishment is to do 10 sets of squats.”

Her face lit up in a blush.

“You can’t be serious!” She folded her arms. “Hmph! Fine!”

She spread her legs and took her position to begin her squats. Isabella has been dressing a lot more modestly as of late. Before, she was the type to wear stockings under her school uniform and throw on anything as long as it fit, but lately she had been taking an interest in her appearance.

Right now she was wearing a grey crop top that hung just above her navel, revealing the smooth skin underneath. It clung to her chest, revealing a snippet of the white bra underneath. Isabella wasn’t flat-chested, but her breasts weren’t big either. If I had to say, they were on the smaller side when compared to girls her age.

If anything, what set her apart were her thick thighs. In both appearance and manner, she had an air of nobility around her, like someone who was raised in high-class society. When I first saw her, I thought that her parents must’ve been some business tycoons, but I came to find out that she was just raised like this by her parents. Isabella’s face flushed as she bent her knees and did her first set of squats.

Her short skirt she was wearing rode up to reveal the white lace of her underwear. Realizing where my eyes were directed, her face turned into a volcano about to erupt. Seeing this, a teasing smile appeared on my face.

“White underwear, huh? I never would’ve thought. It looks good on you.”

“You! Is this how you plan on punishing me?! I hate you,” she spat.

“Really? Is that how you really feel? Tell the truth,” I commanded.

She tried to fight it, to shove the words back down into her throat, but she couldn’t.

“No! I lov—”

Before the words could come out, she bit down on her lips to the point where it was bleeding.

“Stubborn.” I shook my head. “Anyway, on to the next question: Would you like to practice kissing with me?”

“No! I would hate it! Just like I hate you!”

“Seems like another punishment is in order since you’re lying.”

“No! I’m not lying. You just don’t want to accept the truth. Hmph!”

She folded her arms and averted her gaze as if spiting me.

“Your next punishment is to tell me your most embarrassing secret.”

“Huh? You can’t be serious?” She stared at me with a look of bewilderment. She tried to act calm, but her heart rate skyrocketed since I asked the question. I wonder what secret could have her acting like this. “O-Ok, fine. Just don’t laugh. I umm… used to have nightmares as a child. It caused me to pee the bed on several occasions.”

Her entire face was red with embarrassment.

“That’s it?” I asked, feeling a bit disappointed by her answer. It was something normal. “For how long did it happen?”

She twiddled with her fingers nervously as she spoke.

“Up until I entered high school.”
