Chapter 85: Have Your Fill…
I couldn’t help but frown when I saw the notification. What is a rank evolution?
[A rank evolution, as the name suggests, is an evolution in rank. This is different from Bloodline evolution. Different races have different ranks. While some have no ranks at all. For werewolves, there are four different ranks.
•Omega
•Beta
•Alpha
•True Alpha
The Omega rank is the lowest rank, and it qualifies all werewolves who are not a part of a pack. The rank one up from Omega is Beta. Beta qualifies all werewolves who are not an alpha and are a part of a pack. While an Alpha is any werewolf who is the leader of a pack.
And finally, a True Alpha is the rarest and most formidable rank of werewolves. Those who qualify for this inherit powerful basic skills. The chance of becoming a True Alpha is only 0.8%.]
I read through the holographic text that suddenly appeared in front of me, but I felt myself unable to concentrate. It felt as if there was a lump at the back of my throat, and my canines began to grow larger and sharper. It felt as if I could chew through steel.
My claws had extended, and the hair on my arm had grown longer. My senses exploded similar to how it was on the night of the full moon. I clutched my throat as I felt the muscles in my arms and legs swelling. It also felt as if my temperature was running unusually high. So high that even the trees in the forest was beginning to scorch.
It lasted only for a short while, and soon I felt my body returning to normal. I didn’t know exactly what happened to me, but I figured it must’ve had something to do with my rank evolution. I think that was how I was able to compel Garrick and the others to leave too. They followed my orders without question. Just like they would do an alpha.
It also said that my evolution would last for 127 hours. That was roughly five days. The same day as the full moon.
After what happened, I took a few minutes to regain my composure, then I refocused my attention back on finding Isabella. This marking with my name written in blood must’ve been her doing. The blood didn’t smell like her; it must’ve belonged to one of the wild animals she killed.
With that thought, I continued my search. I still couldn’t pick up any clear scent of her, meaning she was quite a distance away from where I was. What more, is that I don’t think I can predict where she had gone since she was most likely not in the right mind.
I decided to pick up the pace a little bit and hopped on top of one of the tree tops. From here, I could get a clearer view of my surroundings, plus I’ll be more able to pick up more of her scent. Within just a few minutes, I picked up something. It must’ve been carried with the wind. I was almost certain it must’ve been her.
I followed the scent, leaping through the trees with incredible agility. I was nothing but a blur in the tree tops as I continued on my way.
Soon, I had arrived at where I picked up the scent, and it was there that I saw Isabella and the horrible condition she was in. She was as pale as a ghost with blood-red eyes. She was covered in blood that dried onto her skin.
She looked completely lifeless like a doll. She looked weak and was barely dragging her broken body along. As she walked, I heard her continuously mutter my name as if she was casting a spell. Seeing her this way, I couldn’t help but feel a bit saddened by it. Especially since I knew the reason she was this way was because of me.
I hopped down from the tree tops and landed softly on the ground behind her, but still she heard and immediately turned around. Her eyes widened when she saw me.
“Liam, is that really you?” she asked as tears filled her eyes.
I opened my arms, and she didn’t even waste a second before running into my arms. I hugged her tightly as she sobbed uncontrollably.
“Why did you leave me?! How could you?!”
She pounded her fist against my chest as she cried and let all of her pent-up emotions out all at once.
“I’m sorry. It will be okay,” I said.
I stroked her head as she cried against my shoulders. I then offered her my neck, and she didn’t even waste a second before sinking her fangs in. She gulped down my blood as if she was starving for it, all while I stroked her hair tenderly.
The two of us stayed like this for about half an hour before she finally pulled herself away to take a break. She was breathing heavily as if she had just run a marathon. I could see that she had returned to her former self as her eyes were back to normal and her skin was a lot less pale.
After that, the two of us decided to take a seat underneath a tree. I offered her my lap, but she quickly refused, leaving me with no choice but to pick her up and place her in my lap rather than giving her the choice.
She frowned at me and tried her best to look angry, but she couldn’t hide the red streaks dancing on her cheeks. She wanted to be angry at me for leaving her, but it looked as if she was losing that battle. I couldn’t help but think how cute it was when she denied what she so desperately wanted. My mother was right; she is fun to tease.
“Where have you been?” she asked, folding her arms and looking away as if she was trying to spite me.
“I got into a bit of trouble. Did you miss me while I was away?”
“As if! I only missed your blood. That’s it!”
“Is that so?”
“Yes! That is so! If it wasn’t for your blood, I wouldn’t have cared if you—”
Before she could even finish speaking, I grabbed her chin and kissed her on the lips. Her lips were soft, and they tasted of blood. Her face was as bright as fireworks as blood rushed to her face. Her heart pounded inside her chest as if it was threatening to break out.
The two of us stayed like this until I finally decided to pull away, but the moment I did, she grabbed a hold of me and latched on tight. Our tongues danced together, and she refused to let us part. It was only when the two of us were nearly suffocating against each other that she finally let go.
I welcomed the sweet release of oxygen that was finally entering my lungs, but before I could get the chance to, she latched onto my neck once again, drinking my blood as if she was dying of thirst. It was a long while before she finally let go, but that was only to speak.
“I won’t stop. I won’t stop until I have my fill of you for all the days that I have missed,” she panted heavily. “Right now, you are mine.”
She licked the blood dripping from her lips before sinking her fangs back into my neck.
