She always been followed behind my heel, wearing the same clothes I wore, styling her hair the same way I decided to style mine. She even followed me here. She’s the reason I was late in returning. “I see.” I smiled at her and patted her head. “That’s good. You did a good job making sure she returned safely.”

She blushed and tried to brush it off as if it was nothing.

“Yeah, she’s always forcing me to help her. Anyway, I wanted to ask if we could go hunting. I haven’t been coping well since I’ve been away from you.”

“Hmm… You mind if we do it later? I still have to check up on the pack.”

“Of course.” She smiled and wrapped her arms around my neck, getting on her toes. “Thank you, darling.”

After Selthia left, I continued the work I had for the day, getting debriefed about what issues arose in the pack since I was gone and coming up with solutions to solve them.

Just as I thought I was just about done, the green-colored ring on my finger began glowing, and the projection of Ember appeared.

“Ember? Why the sudden visit?” I asked in a calm, cool voice.

“I just came here to inform you that the preparations are already set for me to take you to Purgatory.”

“I see.”

“When do you wish to leave?”

Seeing as the Veylmont clan has already begun making moves, it’s best to leave as soon as possible.

“I wish to leave tomorrow.”

The witch looked a bit surprised, though she tried to conceal it.

“As you wish, and remember to keep up with your end of the deal.”

“I will, don’t worry. As long as you take me to Purgatory without us being harmed, then Khalissi will give you your mana stones.”

“Just make sure you follow your end of the deal.”

“Same to you,” I countered, which caused a small chuckle to escape her lips.

“It doesn’t matter if we aren’t the ones who bring you to the Veylmont clan. You’ll get caught sooner or later. You can’t enter the lion’s den and expect not to get bit. They’ll make an example out of you and everyone you ever knew.”

With those cold words lingering in the air, the witch disappeared, leaving me in the quiet room by myself.

I guess it’s time I go hunting with Selthia. After that, I’ll have dinner with my family to celebrate my and Liora’s birthday yesterday. Speaking of, my office was cluttered with gifts I knew I would need. The biggest one was from Selthia and took up half the room.

She had gotten a giant painting of me, her, Sylvie, Isabella, and Kumo to decorate the office. It was awfully nice of her to include the other girls, although the others didn’t have enough effort put into their characters as me and her. Their appearance looked quite funny.

Kumo got me something, and also Eira. The other presents were from female werewolves in my pack pushing their luck. After my dinner, I’ll spend the night with Sylvie again.

The rest of the day went just as I planned. I went hunting with Selthia where I fed her anything I caught. After that, it was dinner with my family to celebrate. Then I went home and made Sylvie the happiest woman in the world.

The next day, I gave Eira instructions on how to handle the pack while I was gone. So along with Sylvie, Selthia, Kumo, and Khalissi, I prepared to finally enter the supernatural city Purgatory.
