Chapter 159: New Plan

Things have changed. When I first orchestrated all of this, I wanted to put the ghouls in a position where they would have no choice but to join me. I would use them as a tool to wage war against the vampires. But now, with this new bloodline, I had the luxury of taking things slow.

To feel my way through before rushing ahead.

“Gather all the remaining ratfolk here,” I commanded.

The ghouls did as I said and brought all the ratfolk who were still alive.

“Don’t mean to rush you, but with all the commotion going on, the vampires will be here at any moment. They’ll want to bring an end to the people who committed the massacre last night,” Yuki urged.

“We should get ready to fight,” another ghoul chimed in.

“Fighting the vampires at this stage wouldn’t be the best for us at this moment. We need to choose the best moment to act, and this isn’t it,” I said.

“So what will we do? They’re coming for us.”

They all looked at me expectantly, praying that I could come up with a solution to get out of this mess.

I approached one of the ratfolk in front of me, whimpering on the ground. The creature kept its head down and curled itself up in a ball. Without hesitation, I lifted it up with one hand, then sank my claws into its stomach, just far enough so it pierced its skin.

The creature let out a low squeal as blood poured down its grey fur, and immediately a notification popped up.

Just outside Grey Waste territory, a young man with long, curly blond hair stood. This pale-skinned young man was of a slender figure and stood over 6 feet tall. He was currently looking at the battle unfolding between the lich and an unknown entity. He had an amused smile on his face as he watched them from a distance.

“Who is that woman?” He pondered. “To keep up with the lich, she has extraordinary magic. Oh wait, are those butterfly wings on her back?”

The more he observed this woman, the more interested he became in her.

“I’ve never seen such a creature before. I wonder what her blood would taste like.” The young man licked his lips as he stared at her, his eyes glowing red.

“Young Master Allucard!”

Suddenly, a voice called from behind him, interrupting his thoughts. It was a giant werebear standing over seven feet tall. The giant behemoth rushed towards him and immediately bowed his head.

“Young Master Allucard, I didn’t know you were coming.” The werebear chuckled, sweat running down his face. “How’s your father?”

“Explain to me what is happening,” Allucard said in a calm, cold voice not giving a thought to the man inquiry. “I left you and that lich in charge until we figure out what to do with the ghouls, and this is what I come back to?”

“I’m sorry, sir. It’s just that we were attacked by that thing. That woman with the moth wings fighting the lich. Somehow, she is holding her own against the lich. Her magic is formidable.”

“I can see that, but what about the ghouls? Don’t tell me you allowed them to escape like the Bocarruta gang.”

The werebear’s face paled when he heard Allucard’s question.

“W-We haven’t checked on them since we were too worried about the moth woman.”

The moment he heard that, Allucard didn’t waste a second. He disappeared in a blur of dark energy. When he arrived at the wall outside Grey Waste, the first thing he noticed was a dead werebear lying on the ground. This brought a small smile to his face.

“Maybe these creatures will put up a bit of a fight,” he mused.

With that thought, he aimed his palm towards the wall and immediately, a swirling orb of blood formed. The orb of blood continued to grow in size until it ruptured, creating a loud explosion. In an instant, a large section of the wall crumbled from the force of the explosion.

With a satisfied smile on his face, he stepped into the ghoul territory known as Grey Waste. At first glance, he saw nothing, but he knew they were there, hiding. He could smell them. Their stench was unmistakable to him. But he also smelled something mixed in with their stench. Something impossible.

“Could it be…”

This other stench forced him to act immediately as he followed the odor to where his targets were. His figure flickered from building to building in a flash of dark energy as he sniffed his way through. In a matter of minutes, he located his target, but it wasn’t the target he was expecting.

“What is this?! Could it be… You were the ones responsible for the massacre last night?”

In front of his eyes was a scene that made him almost want to throw up. Even for a vampire.

What he saw were ratfolk who were transformed into ghouls. These ghouls were eating the corpses of their own dead. Their eyes were blood red, their pupils bulged as if they were going to pop out of their heads at any second.

“What madness is this?!”

He could hardly believe his eyes. Never in his over 200 years of living had he witnessed such a sight.

The ghouls quickly noticed his presence the moment he spoke and turned their attention to him. Allucard calmly sidestepped the ghoul that launched itself at him, and at the same time, a small sword made of blood took form.

“I thought you lot were disgusting before, but now… you’re not even worth breathing the same air as me,” he sighed before he lazily swung his sword, causing two of the ghouls to be split in half.

With a look that’s borderline on boredom and disgust, he easily killed the ghouls as they came after him. With each lazy swing, more bodies fell at his feet until he had killed every one of them. He then stood over the body of a dead ratfolk and began examining it.

“Hmm… Ratfolks aren’t normally aggressive. What could’ve happened to you?”

Every piece of evidence pointed to the ratfolks being the culprit of the slaughter, but his instincts told him there was something more at play.

Something told him that it had something to do with that scent he picked up first that suddenly disappeared.

“Disappeared my ass! He suppressed his presence… But why would he let it be know on the first place? He’s toying with me.”

For the first time in a while, Allucard, the eldest son of the Veylmont clan felt himself get angry. No. It wasn’t just anger, it was rage. To him it felt like his blood was boiling. He clenched his fist so tightly that his finger nails pierced through his flesh, dripping blood from his hands.

“You killed my brother like a common farm animal and now you’re here making a mess in my city.”

As Allucard spoke, traces of his dark magic and blood magic seeped from his skin. These two magic mixed together creating a deadly aura around him. An aura that bent the very air around him to his will.

Just then, when he looked as if he was about to go supernova, he noticed something: the magic explosions stopped, meaning the battle between that woman and the lich was over.

“I wonder how it ended,” he thought, but before he even had time to ponder on that notion, he was interrupted by some other visitors.
