The moment I saw her, it felt as if a single unbreakable thread had connected us. It was different from the bond I shared with those in my pack. It felt stronger, and I knew that she felt it too. She stared at me with beautiful eyes, and the fluffy ears on top of her head twitched slightly.

I was also confused about the form she was in.

There was a bit of warmth beneath his gaze when he looked at her. “Calm yourself, darling.” He reached out his hand and patted her on the head, which caused her to calm down a bit and the temperature to return to normal, but her eyes were still sharp when she looked at me.

“Papa, Sylvie confused. Who are they?” she asked, looking sweet and innocent, a far cry from how threatening she was before.

Her speech pattern and mannerisms caught me off guard too, but I remembered Nyra telling me that she was more of a wolf in human form. Looking at her, that certainly seemed true.

“These visitors are from the Lycann Pack,” he answered. “They came to pay us a visit.”

The moment she heard that we were from the Lycann Pack, her threatening aura returned slightly, and her tail began to dance behind her back as a sharp smile appeared on her face.

“Sylvie hunt?”

“Settle down, Sylvie. Let’s hear what they have to say first.”

Roran watched them with a neutral expression before approaching them.

“Danzo,” Roran said in a flat tone. “I assume you know why I’m here?”

The moment Roran spoke, it looked as if Danzo had lost all interest.

“A truce. The same thing you keep babbling about. Have you come with a better offer this time? You must’ve, since you came here yourself and even brought your family.” Danzo had a neutral expression on his face, trying his best not to give away anything, but there was a faint glimmer of curiosity in his tone. “So, what have you come to offer this time?”

“My own flesh and blood.”

Danzo’s eyes widened, and he leaned forward on his throne made of stone.

“What do you mean, Roran? Have you finally decided to fight me and go out in a blaze of glory rather than cowering?” Danzo asked, a faint smile forming on his lips.

Roran glanced back and gestured toward Kaelen.

“You misunderstand, I offer my son.”

Danzo frowned and leaned back in his seat; his earlier excitement seemed to diminish.

“So, it is your son who will fight me?” he asked.

“No. My stance hasn’t changed. I do not want the conflict between us to end in bloodshed. For that purpose, my proposal is one of marriage, between your daughter and my son.”

The moment Roran said those words, it was as if the air itself got thick. Sylvie’s cold killing intent returned, and she looked at Roran as if she wanted to kill him on the spot. In fact, if it wasn’t for her father, I had the feeling she might’ve tried.

Danzo stared at Roran intensely; his hand tightened around the armrest of his stone throne until the material cracked under the pressure. The sound of the stone cracking reverberated inside the quiet room.

“You want me to marry off my only living child to your son?” Danzo asked; every word he muttered held unimaginable power.

He was by far the most powerful werewolf I have ever met. I used my ethereal sight skill to look at his life force, and I was left completely in shock.

“Yes, that is exactly what I expect of you. Your daughter is surely of age where she can marry. Will you have her marry any run-of-the-mill werewolf, or maybe you’re waiting for the slight chance of her finding her true mate? We all know how unlikely that is, and even if she does find him, who is to say he is worthy of her? I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the only man fit to marry the moon princess is my son.”

“You’re only saying that because he’s your own son,” Danzo shot back.

For all his faults, he seemed like a man who loves his daughter very much.

“If the Nyx and the Lycann join bloodlines, who can stop us? There is more benefit to this marriage than you think.”

Danzo said nothing for a while; he only stared at Roran intensely as if he was truly considering this proposal. After a few minutes, he finally said something.

“If we were to join forces, then who would be the alpha of this new pack? I’m sure you’re well aware that there can’t be two alphas. Are you prepared to bow to me?” Danzo asked.

Roran calmly shook his head and spoke.

“Naturally, my son would be the new alpha of this pack.”

Hearing this answer, Danzo chuckled and shook his head.

“You were always a fool,” he said, his voice dripping with bitterness. “Leave here. Do it before I change my mind to let you go alive.”

Roran reacted instantly.

“You’re making a mistake! This is the best possible solution for both our packs.”

Suddenly, the whole room felt as if it was enveloped in an endless pit of malice. The alpha’s bloodlust was one shrouded in absolute darkness. Feeling this power, the whole room went silent until Danzo spoke up once more.

“Leave.”

Hearing Danzo’s final warning, we had little choice but to leave. We were escorted out of the settlement by the same guards that brought us in.

“We’ll only give you a few minutes to exit our territory; if you don’t, then you’ll be killed on the spot,” the guard said in a flat tone that held no emotion.

“Dammit! That old fool,” Roran hissed, then stormed off in the forest.

The others followed after him, and I trailed behind. I followed them through the forest and down the mountain until we were finally far enough away from the Nyx territory. It was already dark, so we lit a fire and decided to make a camp for the night.

Immediately as the fire was lit, a discussion started about our next course of action. I quickly excused myself from the group.

“Where are you going?” Nyra asked. She was getting weaker by the second.

“I’m going to empty my bladder.”

With that simple explanation, she didn’t question me any further, and I disappeared into the forest. I hurriedly moved as far away from the group as possible. Ever since we left the Nyx pack territory, we had been followed. Specifically, I had been followed, and I knew exactly who it was that was following me.

I stood in a clearing, waiting until they finally revealed themselves. Soon, the moon princess herself stepped out of the shadows with a bloodlust that felt as if the entire forest was going to freeze over.
