Chapter 65: A Hunt With My Mate

The next morning, I woke up to Sylvie soundly sleeping on top of me. She had fallen asleep while I was stroking her head. The cute face she was making as she slept caused a warm smile to appear on my face. I did not know what the future held for me and Sylvie, but last night, I had made a promise to myself to always keep her safe.

Slowly, Sylvie began to stir from her sleep, and soon I was greeted by a cute smile.

“Lee?” she muttered softly.

I smiled and patted her head which caused her to purred softly with a satisfied smile on her face as her tail danced softly behind her.

I still hadn’t figured out what I was going to do. The main issue at hand was Sylvie’s father. He struck me as a bit of an ambitious man. If a war between the Lycann pack and the Nyx pack broke out, it would be highly unlikely that the Lycann pack would win. The Nyx pack outnumbered us in sheer numbers. I could make sure that Sylvie didn’t take part, but it wouldn’t be enough to turn the tide.

For now, I think I’ll just spend my time with Sylvie. Everything else can wait.

“Lee, want to go hunt?” she suddenly asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

“Hmm? You like hunting, don’t you?”

She bobbed her head up and down in excitement.

“What about your injuries?” I asked. “Are you sure you’re healed enough to go hunting?”

“Yes! Sylvie is all healed.”

I was skeptical that she could have healed so quickly, so I decided to take a look. I lifted up her shirt, and her face took on a deep red blush as she began to squirm a little.

“Hold still, Sylvie.”

“Hmm!”

I touched her stomach and realized that some of her ribs were still broken. Apart from her face that looked like a volcano about to erupt, she seemed to be doing a little better.

She should have been in a lot of pain, but looking at her, it would have been impossible to tell. One thing for sure, her pain tolerance was freakishly high. She had extraordinary healing, much better than that of regular werewolves, but it wasn’t as good as mine or Liora’s.

“Sylvie is fine, see,” she said before jumping to her feet and doing some light stretches.

“I suppose a little hunting wouldn’t be all that bad,” I said. “Okay, then, what should we hunt?”

Hearing that question, Sylvie lifted her nose up into the air and began sniffing. In the next second, she grabbed me by the arm and rushed out of the cave. She seemed to have caught the scent of something.

I smelled it too. There was a boar, a couple of miles out. That alone told me that her sense of smell was equivalent to or even greater than mine. Her hearing seemed to be on the same level too.

“Let’s go!”

Sylvie didn’t waste another second before jumping several feet into the air and landing on top of a tree. I did the same and followed behind her. The speed at which she moved was breathtaking. An idea began to form in my mind.

“Sylvie, let’s have a race to see who can get to the prey first,” I suggested.

A cheeky smile rose on her face.

“If Lee can keep up,” she giggled before taking off at full speed.

She leaped through the trees with an agility that left me in awe. In terms of speed, she was on the same level as me, but when it came to agility, she was in a class of her own. I had never seen anyone move like her before. She truly embodied what it meant to be a werewolf.

The way she moved was as if she was built for it, even taking into consideration the fact that she was injured. I tried my best to keep up with her, but it was blatantly obvious that I wasn’t any match for her.

She was nothing more than a blur as she maneuvered through the trees. She moved like a wild animal through the trees top. It was a struggle just to keep up with her, and soon we arrived at where the boar was.

It was a sizable beast with long tusks that looked like they could split you in half, from balls to brain. It blew up dust as it aggressively sniffed the ground, looking for food. A wide grin grew on Sylvie’s face before she launched herself at the wild animal.

Her bloodlust exploded out of her, creating a freezing chill in the air. The monster didn’t even stand a chance before Sylvie’s claws reached its neck. She ripped into the boar’s hide as if it was nothing. Hot, steaming red blood gushed out of the open wound as the boar screamed so loudly that the entire forest felt its pain.

But Sylvie didn’t relent; she released the killing blow, ending the animal’s life in an instant. Her entire face was covered in blood, making her look a bit psychotic. But what caught my attention was the fact that she was blushing immensely. Not not mention her breathing which was all over the place.

Why was she blushing? Could killing a wild animal be so exciting for her?

Sylvie then began licking the blood from her hand, and then she cupped her hand and bent down in front of the dead boar. A few minutes later, she rushed over to me with a handful of blood.

“Lee, try it; it’s good.”

I hesitated. Drinking blood wasn’t something I would normally do. But then again, I’ve been eating the hearts of the monsters I killed, so this wasn’t any big deal. She got on her toes and raised her hand to my mouth, and I began drinking the blood.

It tasted warm and metallic. I have heard of cases where people drank the blood of wild animals to quench their thirst while they were hunting or lost in the forest. I could see why that was.

“Lee, like?”

“Yes, I do like it.”

Sylvie smiled satisfyingly, but then she brought her lips close to mine. For a second, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but then she stuck out her tongue and started licking the blood off my lips. When she was done, a cute smile appeared on her face.

She then went over to the dead animal and, without any hesitation, ripped out a chunk of its flesh and shoved it in her mouth as if she was eating a snack. My jaws dropped in surprise.

“Wait, you have to properly cook it before you eat.”
