“Are you sure this is U.A.?” John asked the cab driver.
“Yes. U.A. U.S.J. That will be 21 000 Yen.” The man said, holding a device that looked like one of those tap debit machines from back home. John pulled out his wallet and flashed one of the cards that was in it, paying the man his fare. He had no idea what a cab should cost, nor what the conversion from USD to YEN was, but that sounded expensive. He would have to see how he would go about registering his bike in this country or finding another form of transit.
John called a cab after walking nearly two kilometres and realizing he was lost. He actually didn’t know exactly where U.A. was; he just knew the general direction he was supposed to go. The cabbie took him through a rabbit warren of city streets, then down a road surrounded by woods that opened up to this facility. The large dome structure looked almost as if Universal Studios sat on a hill, with a wide path leading to a massive staircase that ended up at the base of the dome.
“Thanks.” He said, and started to walk away from the cab when he noticed a sign that said U.S.J. in big letters and underneath had U.A. High School Training Ground. He had a feeling that this wasn’t U.A. but one of its facilities. He pulled out his phone and tried to call the school to let them know there was an issue, but he couldn’t get a signal.
“Great. First day on the job and I’m going to be late.” He sighed. He started to make his way to the building, hoping there was a phone inside.
God, I wish I had that spider climb spell now. This staircase is huge.
It took him nearly ten minutes to make it to the top, all the while contemplating his return to DEN.
Alec is so going to mock me for getting lost on my first day. Jesus, it’s not like I have ever been here before… and why did I start next to a battle? I thought I would get a few minutes to at least get my bearings.
He laughed at that. He only wished he could have gotten a look at that Heroine’s face once he released his darkness spell. She seemed more in a rage at him than the villain who was throwing cars at her a moment prior.
Making it to the top, he caught his breath for a few moments before he opened the doors. Halfway through, he paused, not sure what in the hell he was looking at.
The doors opened into a wide, red-tiled bridge that appeared to have forest on either side. In front of him was a large black and purple cloud that had a vaguely humanoid appearance, and a gaggle of people on the other side of it. They all appeared to be in Halloween costumes like that, Mt. Lady, except for one skinny blonde-haired man, who was wearing a yellow pinstriped suit.
The man appeared injured and was being carried by several people he came to believe were students of U.A., while being led by someone wearing what appeared to be a puffy white spacesuit. He caught the voice of the woman in the suit mid-sentence.
“Use your quirk to save others!” She said to one of the students, then raised her hand at the cloud. “BLACKHOLE!”
Air started to be drawn inside her suit as her quirk started to suck in everything in front of her, including parts of the cloud. The cloud did something, and a weird, black-and-purple hole expanded in front of it.
“Ahh, Blackhole, the quirk that sucks up matter and turns it to dust. Such an astounding power. However, you are a rescue hero, Thirteen, skilled at saving people from disasters. Consequently, you have little fighting experience or battlefield awareness.” The cloud said, then another hole formed behind the spacesuit woman, presumably named Thirteen.
“He opened a Warp gate!” She said, as her powers started to eat her suit from behind.
Yeah, I don’t need to guess who the bad guy is here.
John darted behind the door again, suiting up, and rushing through the door with his sword in hand. He could already feel his anger building, fueling his sword’s rage as this… villain… was attacking these students and teachers.
“Heh, how unfortunate, you have turned yourself into dust- ARGH!” The cloud said, then was shocked when a blade of wind slashed through its mass from behind, exposing a corporeal body for a moment before the cloud reformed.
“Firebolt!” John called, still rushing towards the… gassy human? Whatever it was, tossing a bolt of fire at its face. The surprise attack caught whatever it was off guard, as it swung around towards John and was forced to dive to the side to avoid the bolt. John didn’t let up as he got closer, latching a darkness spell onto what appeared to be something solid inside the cloudy creature.
“What is this! Who- Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah!” It said, stuttering as John hit him with a follow-up bolt of lightning.
“I’m the consequence of your actions,” John said, swinging his sword into the cloud with all the rage he had built up since entering this world, from the weird rules in his memories, to the annoying heroine, to the cab driver dropping him off at obviously the wrong building. It wasn’t much, but it was more than enough to generate enough power that John was positive he would cut through this thing and into the floor.
Just before he connected, his arms were knocked to the side a bit, the energy of the blade hitting near the edge of the cloud instead of the centre of mass. Still, it sliced through something before destroying part of the floor below the cloud.
“ARGH!!! Retreat!” It called out, then suddenly the cloudy thing disappeared in front of John, falling through one of those warp gates before he could continue his attack. On the ground was a leg of a human, some of the gas still lingering around it.
John looked beside him, at the blonde-haired man who suddenly got a lot bigger. He was still wearing that yellow pin stripe suit, but now looked like he did nothing but work out and drink protein shakes all day. The man was panting hard, in obvious pain, but was holding John’s arm in an iron grip even harder than that woman, Mt. Lady, had.
“Excuse me, but just what in the hell are you doing?” John asked, attempting to wrestle his arms away from the man.
“I stopped you from committing a murder in front of these students.” The man said, still not letting go.
“A murder? Son, are you retarded?” He replied, flabbergasted once again. “From where I’m standing, that thing, whatever it is, tried to kill everyone here. I just saved your ungrateful ass from whatever it was doing.”
“A hero is not the arbiter of justice; that is for the courts to decide.” The man said, then said something that John thought was supposed to sound profound. “When you have to save someone, they’re usually in a scary situation. A true hero saves not only their lives but also their spirits!”
“It’s not bad to dream. But you also have to consider what’s realistic.” John replied, patting the obviously confused man on the arm. “How many hits to the head did you take today? Because you can’t seriously be arguing about not killing someone who almost killed you, your friend there, and all of these students.”
The man blinked a few times, then deflated in front of John and passed out. John laid him on the floor and then looked over at the crowd of students watching him, some looking thankful, others looking at him in fear.
“Was anyone injured?” He asked, standing up and sheathing his sword. He had no idea what was wrong with that man, but he didn’t appear to have any physical injuries.
At first, no one said anything, then one of the male students stepped forward. He was tall, with spiky black hair and glasses. He was wearing what looked to be a suit of light grey armour with exhaust pipes protruding from his back. “Instructor Thirteen was injured. We tried to call for help, but we couldn’t get a signal out. I was about to run for aid when you arrived.” He gestured to the woman in the space suit. The wound was bad, but it looked like something his healing magic could handle without needing to burn a Middle Heal spell.
“Are there more of them?” John said, kneeling beside the injured woman. The back of her suit was torn open, and she was moaning loudly in pain. “Heal! Heal!”
The skin and tissues on her back began to mend, rapidly closing her wounds. She let out several ragged breaths and a couple of loud moans before his spells finished doing their job. That last moan really didn’t sound like she was in any pain.
Jesus… am I causing women to orgasm even when… nope, not going to think about it. It was just to heal her, not anything else.
“Yes… All Might and our Teacher, Mr. Aizawa, were fighting these attackers, who called themselves The League of Villains. Then All Might collapsed, and… Mr. Aizawa told us to escape while he delayed them. Then that… thing attacked us and teleported some of the other students somewhere. Thirteen told me to run back to U.A. to get help, but you showed up just as she was starting the distraction.”
“That sounds like the best idea I’ve heard all day. Go, quickly!” John said, patting the young man on the arm, then turned to the other students, “You all, help Thirteen and… All Might? Help them outside. Keep moving away from the building in case this attack breaks out further.”
He stood and went over his current stats. He had forty-five mana left after the earlier fight, overwhelming that last opponent, and healing Thirteen, his regen only getting about five of it back so far. He would have to use what he had left sparingly.
“Sir? Who even are you?” The student with the pipes sticking out of his back asked.
“Just call me the Twilight Knight. Now, get going, I assume those exhaust pipes are not just for show?” He replied. He chuckled to himself as he turned and walked away.
Lord help me… I’m supposed to be here for a damn job interview, not fighting villains. If my sister, in these memories I inherited, could see me now, she would probably clock me for being a damn fool. Or maybe want to help out first, she is a ball of chaos most days.
He shook his head, clearing that thought as he headed down another gigantic flight of stairs to a one-sided battle happening below.
Shota Aizawa, teacher of class 1-A, and also the pro hero known as Eraser Head, was in a tough spot. First, he fought off over a dozen of these low-tier villains by himself once All Might collapsed, already having exhausted himself for the day. Then he fought toe to toe with this villain called Tomura Shigaraki, who ended up disabling his arm with just a light touch using his quirk. It went downhill from there as this giant beast that Shigaraki called a Nomu, started breaking nearly every bone in his body.
He is breaking my bones like they’re twigs. I’m positive I erased his quirk. That means he is super strong without his quirk. I think he is as strong as All Might.
*Snap*
“ARGH!!!”
To say he was in pain was an understatement, and he didn’t know how much longer he would remain conscious, let alone alive. At least he bought enough time for his students to escape.
Or so he thought.
In front of him, in the water training area of the U.S.J., three of them poked their heads over the side. Midoriya, Asui, and Mineta were watching the fight. Well, watching him get pummeled now.
“Oh, what is this? Are some of your precious students watching? Well, while Kirogiri is dealing with All Might and that other hero, let’s make sure the symbol of peace is broken. Let’s wreck his pride.” Shigaraki said, moving rapidly towards the students. “Let’s make this hurt!”
Digging as deeply as he could, he lifted his head from the ground and activated his Quirk and erased the villain’s Quirk just as he grasped the girl’s head.
Shigaraki laughed, then turned his head slightly and addressed him. “You really are so cool… Eraser Head.”
The Nomu grasped his skull and lifted him up. Bracing for the impact that was probably going to kill him, he kept his gaze on the villain for as long as he could.
“Howdy.” A voice said behind him, followed by a distinctive ringing noise. The grip on his head relaxed, dropping him to the ground, along with the arm of the nomu. A moment later, the Nomu’s head followed, rolling to a stop between him and Shigaraki. He had no idea what had happened, but he kept his gaze focused on the villain. A moment later, a man dressed in plate mail walked in front of him, nearly blocking his view.
“Now, I’m pretty new to this city, but I have already had to watch a few different villains hurt a bunch of people, and that was just on my way here. So, how about you leave the kids alone and come be my dance partner for a bit instead, Mr. Handsy.”
“It’s Tomura Shigaraki, not Mr. Handsy, you renaissance fair side show.” He released Asui’s head and began circling around the man, out of his vision.
“Tomera Shiggy, what? Naw, I think Mr. Handsy suits you better. Now, let’s dance, partner.”
“Don’t let him touch you!” Shota croaked out. He was unable to move his body, all of his limbs broken.
Fuck… that means Recovery Girl is going to have to heal me…
He hoped he blacked out before that happened.
John heard the man on the grounds warning, but didn’t take his eyes off his opponent. This one, he didn’t get a chance to sneak up on, and he had no idea how strong he was. If the amount of beat-up bad guys lying around moaning was any indication, the injured man was no slouch, so this one and the big guy were probably the strongest here. There were several other villains standing at the edges, but they didn’t seem to be eager to get in the way.
“If you managed to make your way down here, does that mean you defeated Kirogiri as well?” Shigaraki asked, continuing to keep his distance.
John didn’t bother responding, rushing forward instead. The man backed away just as quickly, letting John know that he was probably faster than him. Not unexpected, as John was just a normal human with some interesting abilities. Still, he needed to get closer to use the one he wanted to use.
He paused.
Bugger it.
“Darkness!” He said, then rushed forward.
Mr. Handsy jumped to the side, the ball of darkness anchored to his head. “Argh! What is this?”
“Dig!” John called out, causing the ground under the villain’s foot to disappear. He came down into the hole and tripped, allowing John to catch him. He brought the sword down on his neck, lopping his head off.
John took a deep breath, then turned around to the other villains and pointed his sword at them. “Surrender now, or else you will end up like your boss here.” He growled, blood dripping off the sword. These guys had already earned the same position as pirates to him, and he had barely been in the world for an hour.
One after another, they fell to their knees with their hands behind their heads. John flicked the blood off his blade, then sheathed it.
He walked over to the three students, who appeared stunned at the sight of the battle. “You guys okay?”
“Yes, Sir.” The girl replied. Her voice was cute but a little gravelly, her costume looking like a frog.
“Good. Stick close to me for now. The teachers from U.A. should be arriving soon.” He said, then turned away.
“Sir, can you help Mr. Aizawa? He looks really hurt.” The larger boy asked, holding his hand as if it were injured.
“We will see… what is wrong with your hand?”
“Oh, I hurt myself fighting some of the other villains earlier.”
“Let’s see,” John said, holding out his hand. The young man tentatively held out his injured hand. “Heal!” Green light flowed into the student’s body, repairing a broken finger and thumb, along with several other injuries that were not fully healed yet.
“Whoa!” Midoriya said, flexing his hand. The other two looked just as amazed.
“Now follow me, I need to heal your teacher,” John said after helping them out of the water.
“Sir! What is your name?” The girl asked.
“Just call me the Twilight Knight,” John replied, already regretting this weird name he had given himself.
I mean, it isn’t as bad as All Might or Mt. Lady, but still.
They made their way over to the fallen teacher. John was just hoping the man was still alive, as he had no idea whether other students were missing or where they might be. He didn’t notice the looks of fear and awe these students were giving him behind his back, unsure if he was one of the good guys or a different form of bad guy for murdering that villain. They were not going to call him out on it, grateful that he had stepped in to rescue them from certain death.
