*Poof*
White smoke surrounded John, blinding him yet again on his arrival to DEN. Flashing lights could be seen through the obscuring cloud, dancing along to the music being played. He felt his body weakening again, the levels he gained in The Great Cleric being reset to normal.
“LET’S WELCOME BACK TO THE STAGE, OUR OLDEST CONTESTANT, THE ONE, THE ONLY, JOHHHHNNNN WWAAAYYNNNEEEE!” Elvis yelled from wherever his booth was, exaggerating his name more than usual. If anything could be considered usual about this place.
As the smoke dissipated, the stage had returned to normal. He was wearing his leathers this time, spiked shoulder pad and all. Beside him was his bag, the top open and the contents revealed. All his tomes were stacked inside still, proving he could in fact bring things between worlds.
“Welcome back John. I see you discovered something there.” Alec said with his greasy smile. He was sitting in his usual spot, legs crossed, leaning to one side, holding a drink in his hand.
“Yeah, I wanted to try it. I didn’t get a chance to finish studying them all, but with the help Evie was giving me, I think I have a good foundation to start using these other magics now.” He replied, closing up his bag.
“Sounds like a good plan to me. Enjoy the new freedom you have discovered. Now, how was your dive into The Great Cleric this time?” Alec asked.
John paused for a moment, and grabbed the drink beside him. It was a peach flavoured water that felt refreshing on his throat. He downed it all, taking the time to think of a coherent reply.
“This was the a bitter sweet trip. I was considering The Great Cleric as a world where I could relax, just living my life while gaining some skills. I proposed to a wonderful woman, learned to cast magic that wasn’t just healing magic, and started to gain levels, which now that I think of it, made my weakened parts of my body stronger.
But, I exposed myself as a reincarnator, and now there are these plans and expectations on me that I didn’t want to have in that world. I have inadvertently made enemies, and now the damn Pope wants to see me for some reason. Not sure what I did to get on her radar though.” He replied. There was so much that went on over the last few weeks that he would have had to write it all out in a journal to get straight in his head.
Hell it might even be some weird fantasy novel. Did they have novels where a dude dies and is reborn into other worlds?
“They did indeed John. So did you enjoy your New World Bonus?” Alec asked, continuing his standard dialogue.
“Yes indeed, having Kururu give me all the healing tomes was a great boon! Though there was no resurrection spell in that pile of books sadly.”
“Hah, is that what you think the boon was John?” Alec laughed, nearly spilling his drink. “No John, that was all you. Maybe she just took a liking to you eh?”
“Please don’t tease me about that. Nanaella has already wrangled more women for my ‘harem’ than I know what to do with.” John replied, rubbing his temples.
“Yeah, you seemed in quite the conundrum. I did have a good laugh when Terra was carrying you in her arms. A big strapping man like you.” He continued to tease him him.
John shot a glare his way. Alec just smirked. “Your boon was that dungeon. Used properly, you will be able to grow strong and gain a substantial income on top of what you could be charging as a healer. Our viewers went all out with their funding for it, filling it to the brim with treasures and artifacts that, while not powerful in the grand scheme of things, have some situational uses.”
“You planted a dungeon in the world that wasn’t there before? Isn’t that already breaking the worlds lore?” John asked, then added “Just like sending me that message. Isn’t that interfering?”
“John, John, we don’t interfere when you are fighting the canon, usually, but shall we check out how you did this dive?” Alec said, not really answering John.
“Sure. Let’s see the results then.” He replied, already getting a headache from talking with Alec. He had questions but they could wait.

“The hell? I changed it that much?” John said. He still had no clue exactly how these were calculated, but it looked like he beat whatever metric they were using to measure changes to that world.
“Yep. You were steadily changing things, but once you gained Galba’s direct attention, you set off a chain of events that all but guaranteed you were going to be caught as a reincarnator. The main difference from the canon of the man- comic and your run is who found out first.
Going forward, this will lead you to a different series of events than what happened in the original story. So good work John, you earned your reward.” Alec said, which prompted John’s memory.
“I… I can say goodbye to my kids now?” John asked, his emotions leaking into his voice.
“Yes John. Yes you can.” Alec replied, raising his glass to John.
John felt something wet roll down his cheek.
After a quick discussion and a request from John that Alec accepted for the cost of ten thousand gatcha tokens, the show was paused in favor of this special segment of DEN.
John found himself back in the white room inside of his mind, pacing back and forth. Alec sent John in here, telling him it would just be a few minutes and everything would begin. To John’s dismay, there was no clock in here, so he had no idea how much time had actually passed.
“John-Sama?” A voice said behind him. “Where are we?”
He turned around at the sound and in front of him was Nanaella, wearing her leather armour. She was surveying the room, looking slightly confused at how she ended up here.
“Good evening my love. Welcome to my mind. Don’t mind the decor, I haven’t figured out how to decorate yet.” John said, walking over and embracing her.
She returned it, then pushed back after a moment. “Why… no how am I here?”
“I asked a god, and paid the price for it.” He replied, then ran his fingers through her hair. “I… did something for them and earned the right to say goodbye to my children from my old life. I asked them if they could bring you here for this too. Sorry for not asking you first.”
“John-Sama…” She said, searching his eyes. She wasn’t sure what to think of this. She was flattered, honoured, really. It was just so surreal, meeting her fiancée’s family, a family from another world while inside a dream. She knew his real age though, and meeting his children who were more than twice her age, seemed a little awkward.
Still, no matter how far away they lived, they were family now. Just like John, family meant everything to her.
“Hello?” A woman called out. She was around five foot seven, average build, with silver hair and crystal blue eyes wearing a doctor’s coat.
“Heather?” A man said. He was six foot three, salt and pepper hair, built like John. He had a dishevelled looking suit on.
“Robert, Heather? Where are we?” A third voice, another woman’s. She was around five foot five, dark hair, athletic build. She was wearing a tight fitting flight suit.
“Vicky? I would love to know that as well.” Heather said. “Am I dreaming? I was catching up on some sleep while the ER was quiet.”
“I was in a hotel room in New York. I must have fell asleep in a chair.” Robert said, trying to fix his suit. “If this is dreaming then it’s the most lucid dream I have ever heard of.”
“Yeah, this seems too real. And I am still up on the station. I was on my sleep cycle.” Vicky said, adjusting her clothing.
“Hey, who are those two.” Robert said, pointing towards John and Nanaella.
“You look famila-” Heather started when Vicky burst out.
“Dad?” She said, looking towards John in shock.
He opened his arms, giving her a nod. “It’s me Pumpkin.”
“DADDY!” The woman shouted and charged him, jumping into his arms.
“OOOFPH!! ARGH!!!” John said, collapsing to the ground with Vicky on top of him. Apparently even in his mind, he was still broken. “God Damnit it Victoria, you were too big to do that twenty five years ago, why would you do it now!”
“Ooops… sorry Dad.” She said, getting off of him. “I thought this was a dream still, since you look like you are close to my age now.
“Middle Heal!” He said, and healing magic shot through his body, healing him.
Why would that work in here? Wait, not the important thing right now dummy.
“Dad!?” Robert and Heather shouted, their voices laced in concern.
“What did you just do?” Vicky asked, pointing at the glow around his body.
“Why do you look younger?” Heather asked, looking at his face.
“Who is this Cosplayer with you?” “Robert asked, looking over at Nanaella.
“Well I-” He started, then was interrupted by Nanaella, who was offering him a hand up.
“Hi, I am Nanaella, John-Sama’s fiancée. It is an honour to meet you all.” She said to them, a giant shit eating grin on her face.
“Fiancée? You are a quarter of his age!” “Why are you wearing rabbit ears but dressed like a ninja?” “Nanaella… why does that name sound familar?”
The three of them started talking over each other, giving John as headache.
He loved his children dearly, but whenever all three of them were in the same room, they went from well adjusted, successful adults, to chaos incarnate.
“I am beginning to think we should have done this one at a time.” John said, embarrassed at how this way playing out.
Nanaella kept smiling, enjoying the little payback she was getting. This was for him proposing to her naked.
John managed to wrangle his middle-aged teenagers into submission with many hugs, tears, and assurances that this was real. He then thought for a moment and then suddenly the room looked like his office in Kuoh Acadamy.
“Have a seat.” He said beckoning them to the couches. Nanaella and him sat on one side, his kids the other. “We only have a few more minutes but I just wanted to see you all one last time, to have the goodbye we never had the chance to have.”
“Dad, how did you do… this.” Heather said, gesturing around the room.
“Well, when I was hit with that truck, instead of dying, I somehow ended up on a game show for deities instead. They are sending me to different worlds to watch me make changes in them. The worlds are based off comics and different shows, at least that’s what I understand of it. There is a bunch of crap I still have no idea about, but they are slowly improving my body as I jump between these worlds.” He said, explaining it all as best he could.
“You were Isekai’d Dad?” Vicky said, then started giggling. “You always had the best of luck. Even when you died, you didn’t really die, you just get to travel the multiverse like in some anime.”
“I think they used that word too. Reincarnation, transmigration, some other big words too that don’t make a lot of sense to me. ” He replied.
“So can you ever come back home to our Earth?” Robert asked.
“I don’t think so, though if I ever get the chance, I will.”
“Good, the kids miss you a lot.” Robert said, smiling at John.
“And you met someone new already? It has only been three months since you died.” Heather said, eyeing Nanaella.
“Yes I have.” He said and took Nanaella’s hand. “I met Nanaella in one of these worlds, and we are getting married soon. I wanted her to meet my family at least once.”
Heather paused for a moment, not sure what to say at first. “Congratulations then, I hope you two will be happy together.”
“Thank you” Nanaella said, then leaned into John, causing his cheeks to redden a bit.
He didn’t realize he would be this embarrassed introducing his kids to a woman a quarter of his age, but apparently he was.
They talked for a few more minutes, them updating him on what everyone was doing, and John giving them a very abbreviated version of what was going on in The Great Cleric.
Soon their time was up, and after another round of hugs and tears, they said their final goodbyes, a chapter finally closing on John’s life.
After they disappeared from the room, Nanaella turned to him. “Thank you John-Sama, for sharing this moment with me.”
“Of course. There is no one else I would want here.” He said, embracing her again.
“So, these other worlds, do you have families there too?” She asked.
He sighed, “You caught that eh? No I don’t, you were the first and only one I consider family.”
“You should change that. If you need to live out your life in each of these places, you should make an effort to be happy in each one.” She said, resting her head on his chest. “Still, it is good to know I am the first.”
“Even across worlds, you are still trying to put my harem together. What did I ever do to deserve someone like you?” He said, then kissed her.
They held that for a few moment, then said a quick goodbye. She would see him when she woke up, but it might be some time before he returned. She then disappeared returning to her slumber. John looked across his office, then smiled.
Today was a good day.
* – I read back, but I can’t find if I mentioned anything about John’s kids genders. So two daughters and a son.
