“Well what in the hell am I going to do?” John said, looking at the destruction in his office. He was wearing a blue janitorial jumpsuit, but it was the only thing he could get that fit him nearby.
Now that John woke up, the whole situation from earlier hit him like a truck. He was yelling at supernatural beings like it was a normal everyday occurrence and even when his office was trashed, he remained calm.
Calm was the last thing he was feeling at that moment.
He managed to contact someone about bringing him a change of clothes, but he still had no idea how to explain the damage in the room. Leaky gas line? Bah that only happens in the movies.
As he lamented his problem, a soft knock sounded on his door.
“Principal Wayne? My name is Rias Gremory, and I am with Akeno Himejima. We heard about the earlier confusion. May we come in?”
John remained silent for a few moments, and the door remained closed.
Gremory? Isn’t that the big guys little sister? Just what I need right now.
“Sensei, I realize you had a rough start coming here, but I would like to help fix things. Can we come in?”
John walked over to the door and opened it. In front of him were two beautiful women wearing school uniforms. The first around five foot eight inches tall, had a massive head full of the brightest red hair he had ever seen, running down to her butt. If this wasn’t that mans sister, he would eat his shoe, she even had the same cowlick on her head. Deep blue eyes look at him in concern, but she didn’t try to push in.
Beside her, was a equally as beautiful woman, this one was a little shorter, around five foot six inches, with raven black hair tied up in a ponytail that ran all the way to her feet. Her eyes were violet and seemed to have a playful urge to them.
Both women though, were absolutely stacked, both with J-Cups. They would give Shizuka a run for her money on who exactly had larger breasts. That wasn’t what was on his mind right then though.
“So Miss Gremory. Since your brother decided to destroy my office and my clothing, how exactly would you like to help fix things?”
“Oh that is easy, with contract magic. Let us in and we will show you.”
With nothing left to lose, John sighed and opened the door the rest of the way. He could return to DEN at anytime now, so if something went wrong again, he would just leave, and come back to this crazy world another time.
“Fine come in, have a seat. Not like you could break things further.” He turned around and went back to the couches.
The two girls followed him, closing the door behind them as they entered. Akeno stayed standing while Rias sat across from him. “Akeno, if you would please.”
“Yes my King.” She said formally, then started casting magic around the room. Things started to repair, and after a few minutes, his office returned to normal, like it hadn’t been torched to begin with. His suit even magically returned into existence.
“See? My brother, he felt bad so gave my peerage a contract to fix your office. With that contract*, our magic can do many things it normally cannot. Now, I am here to listen to your concerns and come up with ways we could help each other.”
John looked around the room and he couldn’t hide being impressed. Everything seemed back in order, and Akeno stood behind Rias, hands crossed in front of herself like an old retainer. For some reason he felt a headache coming on.
Maybe this would be a good time to get information. This one doesn’t seem to want to attack me anyways.
“Very well Miss Gremory, please tell me why this school I was sent to learn Japanese schooling techniques from, turns out to be a haven for what your brother and friends call Devils. Also, why are mere students running the place and not the faculty? Then maybe an explanation about sacred gears while we are at it. Heck I dunno, there are a lot of questions piling up here, and its not even lunchtime yet.”
“We will do our best to explain things. Please be patient.” Rias said, reaching over and touching John’s hand, a playful little smile on her lips. Akeno had a similar smile as well.
Oh these girls are trouble. I don’t envy whatever man you two manage to sink your teeth into.
And with that, the King and Queen of the Gremory peerage began to explain to John about this world he fell into, like they would with any new Devil**.
After a couple hours, Rias and Akeno excused themselves and left John’s office. John barely noticed, his mental batteries already died for the day.
I am sitting in a school funded by devils, just so her and Sona could study abroad in Japan, instead of going to a proper academy in the underworld? What kind of life lets you just say ‘Oh father, I want to study in Japan, can you buy me a school there?’
John massaged his temples, that headache on in full force. He got a lot more information than that, but it still wasn’t satisfactory.
Sona wants to run a school when she is older so this is what, practice now?
One thing was made clear though, the devil’s did not really care about the humans they were mind wiping every few days when something supernatural happened on campus. There were only a few devils in attendance, with the vast majority of the school being normal humans.
That was the other big thing, magic is not known by most humans at all. It was like modern Earth but with monsters and magic hiding in the shadows. So if he used healing magic in front of anyone, he would most likely start a riot rather than be ignored.
John felt a need to want to help that Gremory girl for some reason, but shook it off. What he needed was a way to take back control of his school.
He got up, and dusted his repaired clothing off and went into the school office. He had two suspensions to hand out and had to ensure the students were removed from the premises.
His confidence coming back, he wasn’t going to take shit from some ‘Devils’ who didn’t even look a third his age.
After gathering several staff, he showed them the assault on his camera. They were shocked to see Sona and Tsubaki bursting into his office then throwing water balloons at him. He didn’t see that but he assumed this was some magic making them think it was balloons. He ensured the paperwork was filled out this time, in triplicate, and they marched up to the third year classrooms. It took a minute but they found Sona and Tsubaki’s classroom near the end of the hall.
“Miss Sitri, Miss Shinra, bring your stuff and please come with me.” He said, leaving no room for discussion in his tone.
Both of them stayed still, Tsubaki watching Sona to see what she would do.
I guess that would make sense, being her queen or whatever that means.
“Miss Sitri, we can do this here, or we can do it out there, your choice. Either way you will be leaving.” John said again.
With a sigh, she stood up, gathered her things and left the classroom, Tsubaki in tow. Voices started murmuring, wondering what happened to the president of the student council.
John led them down the hallway, then stopped at the stairs. He turned around on them and handed them a copy of the papers. “You both had been suspended for one week, which you ignored. Your sentence has now been extended to two weeks. Upon your return, you will no longer be part of the student council as your performance there has been subpar. Use this time to reflect on why you thought it was good to attack the new principal in his office, and how you should probably handle situations like that in the future.”
He gestured for them to take the lead down the stairs. They silently went, not saying anything further. The staff with John still looked confused at what happened, their star students had never before had issues, but followed the principal since that was what was expected of them.
Once they got to the main gate, John ensured both left the property, then turned around, his staff in tow. He had things to do now, and a school to clean up.
John sat back in his recliner in his home, a glass of this sake in his hand.
Despite how it started, it had actually turned out to be a good day. After dealing with the Sitri issue, he started gathering more staff around him, showing him exactly how little a lot of them had to do during the day since the student council seemed to have taken most of their jobs.
So the first step was going to the student council chambers and disbanding the whole thing until further notice. The whole concept needed to be reworked into a better model. If the students wanted to learn how a school works, they could work alongside the actual staff, not just try and figure it out on their own.
Next, he was actually lucky on this one, he caught three kids trying to peep in the women’s locker room. All three had priors but no actual administrative action taken, so after a few phone calls, all three boys were sent home on week long suspensions with their parents, none looking particularly happy that their sons were peeping toms.
The boys got off light, considering the entire Kendo team showed up shortly afterwards, bokken in hand. Maybe next time he would let them have at them for a few minutes then suspend them.
Finally, he managed get a hold of his supervisor on the board. He told him about the hostile interactions he had that morning, minus the magic part, along with all the discrepancies that he was noting down as issues at this school. He seemed quite shocked but listened to him, and told him to take whatever actions he deemed fit.
John made sure to record the conversation incase it came back to bite him later.
So he made it home late, but it was a good day overall.
“Your move Devils.” He said to no one in particular, then fell asleep in his chair.
Several days passed, and no random attacks happened to him. In fact, everything was going well. The school was functioning properly again, and when he walked around, there were no real issues that he could see.
Other then one, the old school building. Camera in hand, he grabbed two of his staff and decided to go and give it an inspection. He planned on using it next semester to relieve a few classrooms that had way too many students. Oddly enough he had no issues getting more staff, they just didn’t have the rooms to teach in.
Entering the building, at first it seemed normal, though it was a bit disused. As they walked around though, they couldn’t figure out why a club needed this whole building if they were only using a couple rooms. They came to the end of an hallway, where there was police tape marked on the door.
“Any idea what is behind these doors?” he asked his two staff, two older women who had been with the school for decades.
“No idea Sir, we haven’t needed police here for a long time.” The first said.
He grunted, turned the key and pushed on the door handle. His camera seemed to heat up a bit for a moment, then the door opened slowly, creaking like it hadn’t moved for years.
Inside was a large bedroom, with a canopy bed in the center. Off to the side was a large computer setup, and a small child with headphones on playing on it.
“Did they have someone trapped in here?” He asked aloud. Both the staff seemed aghast.
He walked over to the child who couldn’t be more than ten. “Hey are-“
“Eeeekkkk!!!” the child shouted, and a wave of energy washed over him again. He looked around and his two staff were frozen.
“The heck? Kid are you okay? Are you trapped in here? Can we take you to your parents?” John said, guessing this was some more devil magic.
The kid ran away, and hid under the bed. John rubbed his temples again, not sure what is going on here, other then a very shy child just ran away from them, who had casted magic that only affected his two staff. He walked over to the bed and sat beside it.
“Hey kid, my name is John, what is yours?” He asked the quivering mattress. Seriously, it was like a Scooby-Doo episode.
*Silence*
“How did you get trapped in this room? That door wouldn’t be easy for someone your size to open.”
*Silence*
“You know, we are here to help you. You don’t need to worry about anyone hurting you. Did…did some of the other students do this to you?”
*Silence*
“Was it Rias? Did she lock you up in here?”
*Silence*
“I thought she was different, but apparently she was no different then the others. I will have to deal with her later.”
“…no…she…saved me.” a small, feminine voice squeaked out from under the bed.
“Did she now? Did she also lock you up in here?”
“Yes…until she could get stronger and help me control my power.”
“I see. Is that power why time seems to be stopped out here?” He looked over at his two staff, both still frozen in place.
“…i’m sorry…I can’t control it.”
What to do with a kid with superpowers to control time…surprisingly this wasn’t in the textbooks when this body went to school.
“Is it a Sacred Gear? Or some other power?”
“It is a Sacred Gear, they call it Forbidden Balor View.”
“It seems quite powerful. I have one too, so they say.”
“You do?” came the reply. Two glowing red eyes poked out in the darkness.
“Yep. Though I am not sure what it does yet, it did seem to protect me from your magic though.” He said, lifting his camera up a bit. It was awkward lugging this thing around, but he suspected it was protecting him from things.
“A…camera?”
“Yeah, kind of silly isn’t it. I have had it for nearly forty years and am just learning now it has powers. That the whole world is full of devils, angels and the like. Did you get turned into a devil?”
“…yes…I was dying so she offered to save me in return I would serve as her bishop. I…I just wanted to live.”
“Of course you did, you did nothing wrong. So what is your name then?”
“Gasper…Gasper Vladi.”
“Well Gasper, can you release your powers or does it have a timer? I would like my colleagues back, and I need to have a talk with Miss Gremory about what is proper to do on school premises, which I can assure you, locking you in your room is not okay.”
“…you are not going to hurt her are you…?”
“No son, I don’t think I am capable of that, at least not physically. However, locking a young man such as yourself up, that is wrong on many levels, no matter what her intentions were.”
He stuck his head out then. A very feminine looking young man looked up at him, big red eyes almost on the verge of tears.
“Please be easy on her…she saved so many of us…she is really nice…”
Stockholm Syndrome? I am no expert but yeah…these devils.
With that John ruffled the boys head, causing him to giggle.
Man this boy is pale. Is he an albino or something?
John sat there with the young boy, waiting for the magic to wear off, trying to decide how he was going to handle his next interaction with the devils.
* – Using the contracts to explain how DxD devils can seemingly do anything when doing contracts, other than Issei bumbling around and not making Mil-Tan a magical girl. =P
** – Not going to devout too much word count for explaining DxD. Unlike some of my other worlds, this one has been used a lot!
