[3rd POV]

‘It seems that death can sense the unique biology of the Doctor, being the Timeless Child and all that’ Wand thought, knowing that Death was likely confused on how he was even able to live. He did go against several laws of the DC universe afterall.

“What is he?” Death asked her, glancing at the Doctor.

“Why don’t you ask him, Death? He knows more about his species and it’s oddities than I do” Wanda responded, amused that the woman was making the Doctor shuffle nervously in place.

It wasn’t everyday you meet the literal personification of Death that can eliminate you with a single movement.

“What are you?” Death asked, staring at the strange individual in front of her. She could tell that he was not even remotely human. She could also tell that he has died many times over, and should not even be alive right now.

But for some reason, he was. As if time itself had bent in order to revive him over and over. And from what she could tell, it has happened thousands of times.

The Doctor did not know about this of course, and could not know about it until he becomes “13” because if he learns too early, it might negatively affect his universe’s timeline, and dramatically at that.

This oddity about him isn’t born from the Timelord species he supposedly is, but the true nature of the Doctor, with him being the “Timeless Child”. An entity that cannot die, and is the one that the Timelord species is based around.

He doesn’t remember any of this, as it was wiped from his mind, hidden forever or at least until the time was right.

And that time was not now. And Wanda made sure that Death knew that by giving her a few mental images of what not to talk about, causing Death to glance at her in understanding.

“I am a Timelord, Lady Death. I come from a species that can live several times over, through something called a “regeneration”. After death, we regenerate using a unique energy that exists within us that allows us to regenerate 12 times for a total of 13 incarnations. This also makes it so we have two hearts, are far smarter than any normal being, and a number of other things” The Doctor explained, his species was FAR more confusing and complicated than that, but that was the simplest way he can explain what he was to her.

The actual explanation of his species in full would have taken hours and been confusing as all hell.

“…Hmm, I suppose that’s why you have time-space energies coalesced around you. What an odd species you are” Death said, having not seen a species like this before.

“Um…thank you?” The Doctor said awkwardly, once again not sure what to say. He had met cosmic entities before of course, but most of them were…well…trying to kill him.

Death was quite nice in comparison.

“No problem. I was just curious. I’ve got no jurisdiction in your multiverse so I’ll leave you be. But the Death that exists over there must be slacking if it’s letting a species like you exist” Death commented, not sure how the hell they were allowed to exist.

“There isn’t a real death over there. The universe he comes from is dominated by science and nothing more” Wanda said, as Death looked over to her.

“Truly? No magic? No Cosmic forces?”

“Not like the ones you have, no. No Endless, no Lucifer Morningstar, no Monitors, nothing like that” Wanda responded with a nod, which ended with her fighting off a laugh as she saw the look on Death’s face.

She looked completely and utterly confused about the universe he hailed from, and how it was even functioning.

Wanda questioned that constantly as well, with the amount of universe ending events that occurred literally every single day. Hell, every hour.

“How…strange” Death said, not really sure what else to say to the news about the Doctor’s universe and it’s makeup.

“Your universe is the one that sounds strange, Lady Death. Because our universe was stripped of magic eons ago” The Doctor said, remembering that it was his species itself that had wiped out Magic from the universe.

They thought that magic made things too chaotic, went against the order of things. Like a chaotic bug in a computer system, and they were the coders that were wiping out bugs from the system.

“Your universe sounds more and more impossible by the second” Death said with a shake of her head in amusement. She was really curious about the place, and wondered if Wanda would be willing to take her there in the future.

Wanda would be, but that’d have to be later.

As Jackie was walking back over, a large stack of books in her hand.

“Mum, do you really need that many…lewd books?” Rose asked, an embarrassed blush on her cheeks as the books that her Mum had grabbed were all smutty as hell, and had quite provocative covers on them.

“Of course! I have my own needs you know” Jackie responded, placing the books onto the counter with a shameless smile on her face. As if she wasn’t about to buy what was borderline porn in writing form.

“…That is…quite the selection” Wanda said as she began to check out the books, trying not to say anything more. As she had never seen someone so shameless before, well, beside Lucifer.

But that dude is never anything but shameless.

Jackie just smiled in response as Wanda checked them all out. She was a little surprised when she saw the price tag of the books. It was way cheaper than any other bookstore she had been to before.

“Is that price right? Seems real bloody cheap” Jackie asked, as Wanda nodded.

“It is. The normal books in my shop are cheap, Jackie. It’s the more…unique books that are truly expensive, like the one that the Doctor has bought” Wanda said, as the Doctor had indeed bought the book on Apokalips.

“Huh…guess I’ve got a new bookstore to regular” Jackie responded with a smile, as she paid for the books. Happy to see that they were way cheaper than her usual spot she visited every month or two. And the books that Wanda was selling was way more interesting too.

“I’m glad you like this place so much Jackie. I’ll have to stock up on some more smutty books for you to buy, and tease your daughter with of course” Wanda said, giving the woman a grin that she returned, with Rose groaning knowing that her mum was definitely going to be messing with her a lot from now on.

“Well, I’m off, got new books to read! Come along Rose” Jackie said as she gave Wanda a raise and began to leave the shop. Rose looked at her mother with a sigh and followed after her.

“She’s quite the character” Death commented.

“You have no idea” The Doctor said with a chuckle, as he gave Wanda a wave and a simple nod to Death before following after them, leaving Wanda and Death alone once again.

“His universe is intriguing. And living so many lives? Truly interesting that he can even function anymore” Death said, as she turned away from the door and back to Wanda.

“His universe is one of the most unique that I have ever seen, trust me. And it also has some of the most advanced sciences I have ever seen as well” Wanda responded, agreeing that it was all interesting.

She would have to visit that place sooner or later, maybe even go on a trip with the Doctor. Just so she could see the true nature of that universe and its beauty.

“You’ll have to bring me along there if you ever visit it” Death said, as Wanda raised an eyebrow at the words.

“Sure, I don’t mind. It could be fun you know, laughing at the dozens of strange species that are spread about in that universe”

“So, what are you here for, Death? Books? Food?” Wanda asked, as Death shook her head.

“None of those things. I am actually here to tell you that my brother Dream will be visiting this place in three days, and I thought it was only right to warn you beforehand so you don’t get blindsided” Death replied.

“Huh…thanks for the warning Death” Wanda said with a hum, wondering what Dream would be coming by for.

Soon after telling her about Dream and buying some bakery goods, Death left, leaving Wanda alone once more with her thoughts. And after Death left, Wanda had one thought on her mind.

‘…Let’s go see what the Young Justice team is up to!’
