Sitting behind her desk, Wanda sighed “So, I know you said you’d come back, but I was hoping that was a lie” Wanda said, as she stared upon Death, who had an amused smirk on her face. The entity had entered the bookstore the second it had opened today, and was now sipping on her tea, reading one of the books she had bought from Wanda.

“Well, I quite enjoyed the company last time. And the books were interesting, so I thought I’d come back. What, do you not like my company?~” Death teased, as Wanda deadpanned.

“Nope, you’re annoying” Wanda replied bluntly as Death looked at her in fake offense.

“I am wounded that you would think of me in such a way, Wanda! And here I thought we had a growing bond, afterall, you did call me cute” Death said with a pout on her beautiful face. Wanda just rolled her eyes at the response.

“Yeah you’re cute but also annoying. I didn’t realize death itself could be so irritating” Wanda replied, going back to her book after saying this.

“You know, I could kill you for acting like this. My siblings have done more for much less” Death said with an amused smirk on her face, finding the fact that someone would talk to her in what can be seen as rude, to be hilarious. She was easily the most “Chill” of the Endless, and could care less with how she was talked to.

“We both know you couldn’t even if you tried. It would take the big buy himself to kill me, or maybe those sons of his, but I doubt even they could kill me, not permanently at least” Wanda replied with a snort.

She was known as the “Nexus Being” and likely the “Ultimate Nexus” of this multiverse, she is a walking personification of freedom, a being with influence over ALL realities thanks to this. Thanks to this, she is completely and utterly untethered from things like Fate Manipulation, Existence Erasure, Paradoxes, and immunity to time travel alterations. It also makes her functionally immortal, as she is “Free” from Death, and will simply return to life.

Not to mention her powers from Wiccan, her sorta son (It’s complicated). With him being an entity called the “Demiurge” making her a higher entity, should she ever decide to take her true form. In her true “Demiurge” form, she would be able to quite literally walk over the multiverse itself, end all things, and would likely be on par, if not higher than even Lucifer in power. With Wiccan being destined to rewrite the magical laws of the entire marvel multiverse, and give “Birth” to the Elder Gods of a higher power.

Basically, Wanda could not be killed, not by anyone but the Presence himself at least.

“Yes well, I could threaten to, or at least try” Death replied with a small huff, knowing that Wanda was right. She could literally sense that she was not something she could kill. She inwardly doubted that even the death of the universe itself would end Wanda, as she would just…return.

“Sure sure. So, anything else you want or are you just here to annoy the hell out of me?” Wanda asked with a grunt.

“Ah yes, do you make food too? It’s been quite some time since I’ve last eaten a proper meal” Death asked, as Wanda raised an eyebrow at the prospect of Death itself eating a dinner.

“I can, yes. Mostly bakery stuff, scones, biscuits, muffins, stuff like that” Wanda replied.

“Mmhm, a muffin sounds good right now. Oh, and can I get another coffee?” Death asked as Wanda nodded and headed into the back, as she did actually make the food herself. She had read a few thousand cookbooks and watched all sorts of cooking channels and learned it all.

So, she made it without using chaos magic, as it felt a lot better truly making it rather than using some magic to just create it at will.

After some time, she had gone back out, a tray with three muffins in one hand, and a coffee in the other as she walked over to where Death was seated, placing it on the table in front of her as she smiled up at Wanda.

“Thanks Wanda, it looks and smells delicious” Death said, practically drooling as she looked over the food in front of her. All freshly baked and genuinely delicious, even by Wanda’s standards, and she just hoped that Death felt the same way.

Biting into the muffin, Death’s eyes widened in slight surprise at the taste, as a sigh of pleasure escaped her lips as she began to happily eat the muffin. Munching on it, she gulped in down with a happy grin.

“That was delicious Wanda! You know, if you weren’t a bookstore owner, you’d be an excellent cook” Death praised, as she bit into the next muffin, Wanda walking back to her desk with an amused chuckle, inwardly a bit happy that death thought her cooking was good, as that was high praise from a being such as her.

“Well I am thankful for the praise, not everyday death itself praises someone’s food” Wanda replied with a small smile, fighting the blush that threatened to form at the praise. Something that Death had noticed, but decided against commenting on. She didn’t want to make Wanda uncomfortable after all.

“I’m only stating the truth is all” Death said, biting into the next muffin, sighing at the taste as she finished it.

Leaning back in her chair at the desk, Wanda smiled as more customers began to come in, the old couple coming in once more, while Death leaned back in her chair and continued to read the book she had chosen out for herself. A book about the romance between “Death” and a woman, quite the story really. In that story Death was usually shown as a man though.

“Ah Mister and Misses Smith! Back for more romance books for the book club?” Wanda asked, as the aged woman smiled and nodded.

“We are. My fellow old bats are thinking something less…romantic and more…fantastical. Perhaps you have some recommendations?” The woman asked, as Wanda smiled, before walking into the back and looking into the back, before coming back with a new book for them to read.

“A song of Ice and Fire. It’s a dark, gritty little book, and can be quite…graphic in nature, and positively brutal. The warnings are all on the back if you want to see them all” Wanda said, as the woman opened the back and began to look through the warnings.

Reading through them all, Wanda looked to one of the other customers walking in, a younger woman.

“Ah Sam! Are you here for the new round of manga?” Wanda asked as the woman excitedly nodded. She was a bit of a weeb and loved all things anime, manga, etc, and she liked Wanda’s works the most of them all.

“Yep! Next volume of One Punch Man please! Oh, and do you have any new ones?” Sam asked, as Wanda smiled, pointing to the manga section.

“The new one is called “Death Note” might be my best one yet. Go ahead and give it a look” Wanda said as the woman nodded excitedly and walked over, giving Wanda the time to look back to the two elderly individuals in front of her.

“So, will you take them or are they too graphic for book club?” Wanda asked, as the woman smiled.

“We’ll take 5 more please. Ah, and could we get some new bookmarks? We lost the old ones” Misses Smith asked, as Wanda chuckled and reached around to grab 6 bookmarks, and then went into the back and grabbed 5 more books for them.

After the two had paid, Sam made her way up to the front desk, an excited glint in her eyes as she had the first 3 volumes of Death Note, and the newest 3 volumes of One Punch Man. Her cash was placed in Wanda’s hands a moment later.

“Thanks Wanda, have a good day!” The woman said as she ran off, leaving Wanda all alone.

Wanda giggled at the girl as she ran off, leaving her alone, only for the door to open moments later, as she opened her mouth and spoke.

“Welco-me?” Wanda said, trailing for a moment as she went wide eyed at the woman that had walked in.

A gorgeous 5’6 woman with short dark hair and pale skin. A beautiful, alluring figure with some…impressive assets. A rather tomboyish set of clothing on her form. Power practically rolling out of her figure unknowingly, as Wanda fought back the shock as she stared upon her number 1 favorite goth girl in all of fiction…
