[3rd POV]

Turns out the Doctor was a thorough reader, and very very picky about what books he bought and read. Wanda had come to this realization, when she had sat at her desk for an entire hour waiting for the man to pick his books. She was beginning to grow a little annoyed with the wait, but decided it was best to let the man do his thing.

But finally, after an hour and a half, the man was done, as he walked over to Wanda with a stack of books in his hands. Most of them were books on the history of magic, explanations on magical creatures and dimensions, and stuff like that. There were also books on Science that didn’t exist in Doctor Who, ones involving things like Vibranium, elements that weren’t a thing there, and more.

Looking over all the books, Wanda smiled “So, how’re you going to pay for all of this?” Wanda asked, looking at the man, eyes practically sparkling at the thought of reading some of the books in his collection.

“Ah right…how much exactly would this all cost?”

“Well considering you picked some of the rarest and most expensive books in the store? A lot. But, you can also pay for them through an exchange of books if you’d like” Wanda said, giving the man a grin as he narrowed his eyes.

“And what sort of book would you want?”

“A book teaching the language of Gallifrey for a start. That alone would likely cover a quarter of these, it’s up to you about the rest. And should you provide enough books, I can add it to your store credit, allowing you to get other books in the future. Afterall, I’ll likely be getting more and more new books in the coming months” Wanda responded as the Doctor stared at her.

“Is that a rare book, Doctor?” Rose asked, as the Doctor looked at her.

“Yes, yes it is. But…I’ve got several copies of it, so I suppose I can depart from it” The Doctor said after a few moments of thought. The idea of more people knowing the ancient language of Gallifreyan was a bit…strange to him, but he decided that he wanted the books enough to do the trade.

“Alright, I’ll be back in a jiffy, and you go ahead and wait here Rose!” The Doctor said as he put the books onto the counter, before running off, leaving Wanda and Rose alone in the store.

“He’s quite the…oddity” Wanda said, as Rose looked at her, before a laugh escaped her lips. She had been a bit blindsided by the Doctor running off, and she was glad that she was not the only one.

“That is an understatement. Sometimes I think he’s got some sort of ADHD or something, with how all over the place he is at all times of the day” Rose said with a giggle, as Wanda glanced over the books that Rose had chosen, raising an eyebrow at them.

“Comics, a couple of romance novels, and a book on magical creatures? Quite the interesting selection, any reason you chose those specific ones?” Wanda asked, as Rose blushed slightly in embarrassment.

“Well the comics looked interesting enough, much better than the junk in my local shop, and a…friend of mine used to talk about them all the time. The book on magical creatures looked fun, with all the cute animals and the interesting facts about them. While the romance novel…well, a girl has to have something to do in their free time” Rose replied, Wanda raising an eyebrow in response, knowing that she was talking about Mickey.

“We all have our interests. Mine are books and magic, and yours is romance books that have a lot of smut in them” Wanda said with a small smirk, the girl blushing brighter in response.

Only a realization hit Rose upon hearing this “Wait, how do you know there is smut in the book, unless you’ve rea-” “I’m back!” The Doctor exclaimed, as he walked through the door, a stack of books in his hand, and a grin on his face.

Looking to the Doctor, Rose opened her mouth several times before closing it.

“Doctor isn’t that a bit…much?” Rose asked.

“Nah, most of these are just collecting dust! Much better to hand them off to someone more interested, and get something out of it too!” The Doctor said with a bright smile, planting the dozens of books he was masterfully holding onto the desk.

Wanda was practically drooling as she noticed that every single one of the books were completely unknown to her. Not only that, but they were all alien in nature, and seemed to be on all sorts of things. Ranging from languages, history, advanced forms of science, to even books on alien species.

“So, how much will this get me in store credit?” The Doctor asked, as Wanda’s eyes sparkled, as she began to grab each book one by one, using her power to glance over them all, seeing what sort of information was inside.

‘Looks like the science books aren’t on the true top of the line stuff, but they’re definitely more advanced than anything on most Earth’s. That book alone would cover Rose’s selection. Add in the rest…’ Wanda mused, before looking up to the Doctor and smiling, especially once she noticed a book on the Gallifreyan language, a book on its history (or a rough overview), and a book on Sonic Screwdrivers.

“These will cover everything you have, as well as an additional 10-20 books mattering on the selection, with the magical ones being the most expensive as you’d assume. It can be even more should you choose fictional books or some of the minor books that will be added in the coming weeks” Wanda replied, eyes gleaming in excitement at the new books to be read.

“Alright then! And finding this shop of yours again, will it always appear in the same place or will it move?” The Doctor asked as Wanda shrugged.

“I can make it stay in the same place. Or I can give you a bookmark”

“A bookmark? What does that have to do with anything?” Rose asked, as Wanda smiled.

“The bookmark is a specialized magical item I created. It’ll summon the shop to the closest reasonable location and direct you to it. This applies to any and all planets, universes, or dimensions you may show up in” Wanda explained, as the Doctor’s eyes widened. He could already see the use for this sort of thing, especially if he was to use it within the Tardis when he wanted to shop in the future.

“Do I need to pay for the bookmark?” The Doctor asked.

“Nope, it’s completely free for any buying customer, especially ones that have a high likelihood of being repeat customers such as yourself” Wanda said, before reaching down and grabbing one of the bookmarks she had created.

“What if we lose it?” Rose asked, as Wanda laughed.

“It’ll be bound to whoever touches it first. Allowing for the Doctor to summon it at will, never being able to lose it, nor can it be destroyed by anything but myself” Wanda replied, as the man touched it, causing it to glow a soft red color, before he placed it in his pocket with a grin.

“I have a feeling this will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship” The Doctor said, as Wanda gave him a grin of her own, Rose shivering at the response, realizing that this might be a bad thing.

And boy did she have no idea.

Later, after the Doctor had left, Wanda was waiting for her next customer. The Doctor ended up staying for around an hour longer, opting to test some of her delicious teas and bakery items. While also reading some of the new books he had exchanged for.

Wanda was broken out of her thoughts as she heard the door open, as she looked up and her eyes widened upon who she saw standing in the entrance. Three children, likely only in their teens, if that, standing there.

One with blonde hair.

One with pitch black.

And the last with…hooves?

“Percy! I told you not to enter the glowing red door! Now look what you’ve done, we’re in some-some bookstore or something!” Annabeth yelled, as the other teen sweat slightly as he tried defending himself.

“Um…guys? There’s someone else in here” The other teen said, as they both blinked.

“Grover now’s not the time to mess with u-ah…crap” Percy muttered, as they all looked to Wanda, who had an amused look on her face, before she looked over them, and spoke.

“Welcome Demigods – and Satyr – to the Emporium!”

They’ll be making frequent appearances at different ages as they get older, stronger, and more experienced. And I might have Wanda take a short visit over there at some point in the future.
