Chapter 105: “Where is Nikola Tesla?”

Jimmy eventually found Eni. In fact, he ran into her as soon as he got to the main part of the cavern where most of the tribe hung around, and carried on with their daily tasks.

Eni had two leather flasks of water on her. One of them belonged to Jimmy. She had taken it with her, just to fill it with water for him.

“You woke up quick,” She said. “I went to get you some water from the pool.”

“Thanks,” He smiled. “I’m not that thirsty right now, but I appreciate it.”

Jimmy was fascinated by himself. Usually he’d be so dehydrated after sex that he’d feel like he could drink the entire pool of water that was in the cavern, but today, he was barely thirsty. This was especially impressive on account that he shot out two pounds of semen less than an hour ago, and so he was aware of how impressive that was.

’My powers must have evolved again,’ He thought.

The food supply they had right now will deplete, or rot in a few days, so they had to go hunt again, and soon. Jimmy wanted to make sure that their next hunt was worthwhile.

There were a total of seventy-five people left in this tribe after the massacres of the Giant’s Ditch, and this didn’t sound like a lot in hindsight, but these people barely ate anything other than meat.

Each person needed two pounds of meat a day to sustain their bodies, well, the kids and the elderly ate less, but since everyone in between ate more, the average of meat consumed per person was two pounds. If the large, bear-like men were given just a pound of meat, for example, a quantity half as small as their hand, they won’t be happy. Not at all.

With that considered, these people consumed one-hundred and fifty pounds of meat a day, or sixty-eight kilos. Multiply that amount by seven days a week, and the food demands seemed impossible to sustain.

Jimmy was aware of this, which was why he wanted to find salt deposits. If they found salt deposits before the next hunt, the tribe will be well fed and happy for a month, even if they took down a mid-sized, two-ton herbivore.

The hunting sessions would be reduced from one session a week, to one session a month, or even longer, if they landed a big kill! The people will be a lot safer, so they can avoid unnecessary deaths, but furthermore, if they killed a large herbivore, they’d be all set for the winter.

His philosophy on the matter surrounded small fractions of history from back on Earth. Or, his interpretation of the social aspects of history, when people started practicing agriculture.

He thought, ’If people don’t worry about food, they get creative, and hopefully innovative. Maybe there’s a fine man or woman, who’s this world’s version of a Nikola Tesla hiding here, worried about their next meal? I’m gonna feed my people well, and hopefully discover one or two geniuses. Even one would be good, especially after I boost their brains, and they may as well be fucking good, because I sure as hell don’t know how to turn a rock into a computer chip.’

This was his foolproof plan in case the secrets behind that steel door had nothing to offer. He was preparing for the worst, by trying to make everyone’s lives significantly easier.

The hunt for salt was only the beginning of a much greater plan.
