Chapter 59: IQ Boost

Jimmy was on the Quetzalcoatlus Northropi’s brain like moss on a tree stump. It was easy to invade its brain, in a sense, because there wasn’t much to invade.

The QT was bred to be a great hunter that dominated the sky, and the ground too, to some degree. It had a massive body to aid its hunting, so overall, it wasn’t bred to be intelligent. Its brain-to-body size ratio was four times worse in comparison to other dinosaurs.

Jimmy was essentially dealing with a two-pound peanut of a brain. It seemed big, but its brain was mostly useless.

“I’m not sure if I can fix stupidity, but I’ll give it a shot, because we don’t have time to train this fucker.” He spoke to himself, as he analyzed the QT’s brain. “But maybe I can make it harmless in front of humans? It’s a start, but that’s not enough. Gotta make her listen to Anna too.”

Jimmy then focused every ounce of his abilities towards its head, and behind that tough noggin, he started tossing its brain around. This was a new discovery for him, he did not know that he could play with an animal’s brain, so it took some getting used to.

Taming a beast as violent as this one required some effort. He had to alter its brain for good, because otherwise Anna would end up with a stupid, violent, sky giraffe basically. One that wouldn’t be so great at taking commands.

This process was becoming more complicated than he anticipated, the moment after he focused his powers on the QT. He does not remember if he altered Gutaxun’s brain, he could not recall many details from his trance-like state from yesterday, so he worked with a wing and a prayer.

Worse case scenario, the QT dies on the spot due to severe brain damage. By now, he had turned its brain into mush, just to try and rebuild it, and this was why the process became so complicated. The QT was even frozen in place, so he wouldn’t be surprised if he accidentally killed it.

Jimmy tried his best to work with precision. He had no clue how dinosaur, or even human brains worked, so he just tried to visualize the ideal brain for this flying beast. A brain that he could trust to look after Anna, under any circumstances. If she got killed by the QT, either by accident or on purpose, he would never forgive himself.

Motivated by such fear, he really managed to lock-in on the QT’s brain reconstruction. His fingers were twitching as if they were going to bend, and break backwards. His senses were heightened.

As he concentrated his abilities even further, he then shot a wave of red smoke out of his hand, right towards the targeted brain!

Once this smoke hit its head, Jimmy immediately snapped into a trance! The world around him suddenly disappeared, and all he could see was the QT’s brain sloshing around like liquid, and then forming into a brain that would best be described as new, raw, and never-before used.

This trance he snapped into, came because he pushed his abilities to the limit, all by himself. He did so accidentally, but nevertheless, in bleak comparison, it was different from yesterday where Gutaxun’s loud heartbeats overwhelmed him, and pushed his abilities to the limit for him. The difference was astronomical.

Jimmy reached the peak all by himself, and this time, he was aware of what he was doing, and how he got here. He was almost conscious, even, despite the trance being accidental.

’Needs a little bit of spice,’ He thought.

Jimmy then replaced the red smoke that shot out of his hands, with white smoke. The white smoke signified white brain matter, and he was aware of it.

The smoke carved the brain of the QT as if it had been worked by the greatest surgeon to ever exist, paired with the steady hand of a sculptor.

Each and every worry he had, be it conscious or subconscious, regarding how this beast would behave around Anna, poured into its brain, essentially sculpting its brain for the better, with marks that could not be erased.

To be extra safe, he altered its behaviour in such a way that it would be harmless towards humans. At least, towards humans that did not wish it harm.

Furthermore, the QT saw Anna as its master, and was conditioned to protect her with its life. It had no other choice.

Afterwards, he poured a bunch of dark smoke towards its brain. This dark smoke was related to intelligence. He gave it a significant IQ boost, and the boost was so great that this beast may even be smarter than the average caveman!

This trait sounded impossible to implement, but then again, he did have a lot of white matter to work with. The QT’s brain hadn’t really been the size of a peanut before, it was big, just mostly underdeveloped, unused, or too small compared to its massive body. He sculpted its brain to perfection, made it as efficient as he could, and essentially maxed out its intelligence as if he pushed millions of years of cognitive evolution into a two-minute time bracket!

After that, he was done. Jimmy snapped out of his trance, willingly, to his surprise, and when he got back to the real world, he noticed that everyone in the group had climbed off of Gutaxun, and had been watching him work. They were absolutely amazed by the cinematic display of unknown powers being used.

Jimmy locked eyes with Anna, and smiled, “I tamed her for you, go ahead and give Cutie a spin.”

This was cause for celebration. Not only has he tamed, and improved an apex flying predator’s brain, but he also made great progress with his own abilities! He finally understood how his magic worked! Well, most of it.

“I made another breakthrough,” He expressed. “I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to tame that long-necked bastard, but I did.”

He tried to help everyone around him feel hopeful, but other than Nechi, no one else understood what he meant when he said ’breakthrough’. Anna was occupied with her new pet, so she barely heard what he said.

He had to double down on what he meant, so he added, “By breakthrough, I mean that I can tame dinosaurs for you guys, in a snap and without wasting any time, so, things are looking good. I really think we can save a bunch of our people tonight.”

Jimmy tried to dumb his explanation down into reassuring words for the rest to understand. But other than that, he was quite aware of what he just achieved.

He pushed his powers to the limit, got into a trance, had a breakthrough, and after this point, he was sure that he didn’t have to work as much to ’reshape’ another dinosaur’s brain in the future. He evolved his magical abilities, without power-drilling a woman to do so, and he was quite proud of this achievement.

It was a valuable discovery. It proved to him that he could evolve his abilities in two ways. He either had to figure out ways to push them to the limit every now and then, or he had to have sex with a beauty. Someone he cared for.

Either option was good, but having sex was easier for him, because he already had two girlfriends who could not get enough of him. Despite the recent horrid troubles, life started looking good, so he was hoping that he wouldn’t have to push his powers to the limit again tonight, while they looked for survivors. He hoped that he wouldn’t get pushed towards such desperation.

Anyway, Anna had already approached her new pet. It didn’t take her long to notice that its behaviour was unnatural. Tens of facts about this species poured into her brain, facts that contradicted QT’s current behaviour.

Moments later, the QT used its wings to cover Anna, just in case there were predators out there. Right then, she concluded that its behaviour was not only unnatural, but it was also considerate, protective, cautious, sentient, and essentially, conscious.

It didn’t take a genius to figure out that it was unnatural for this species to behave this way. The QT was a monstrous flying reptile! It didn’t have to be kind and considerate.

Anna took a few steps back, and waved her hand, gesturing for the beast to lower its massive head down. This way, she met with her pet eye-to-eye, and confirmed her conclusions.

“You’re more than just obedient. You can understand me, right?” She asked, and moved her finger close to her pet’s eye, and noticed that it was following her finger. “Well, either you suddenly understand me, or you’re as smart as a house cat now? Doesn’t matter. I can work with this, but just to be safe, I’ll ask Jimmy how smart you really are. He obviously did something to your brain, but, if you’re actually conscious, like I suspect, then the two of us are gonna have a lot of fun together, big girl.”
