Chapter 161: Aura Farming²
As if the universe, or in this case, the bunker, was made to work against him, Jimmy had to climb a total of one-hundred sets of square spiraling stairs, just to get to the tower that Terrence was giving grave importance to!
As a man who was used to taking elevators back on Earth, he wasn’t used to climbing stairs, not at all. Paired with the fact that his caveman body wasn’t meant to climb stairs either, it took him nearly two hours to make it to the top!
If he had been any more willing to climb the stairs, or in this case, experienced, it wouldn’t even take him an hour to climb to the top, but his body quit on him. Although he had an albeit athletic body, he still got winded quite easily. He had to take ten short breaks, and three long breaks, just so he wouldn’t pass out.
“I haven’t felt this drained even when I had sex with all three of my girlfriends,” He kept taking short breaths, his face red, and sweat engulfing his body. “You were right, these stairs are a great defense system.”
“Of course I was right,” Terrence said, with a smug look on his face.
Terrence hadn’t broken a single bead of sweat on the way up here. He had been hitch hiking on Jimmy’s shoulder, and had been trying to motivate him on the way here. He was not the greatest at pep-talk, so he ’rage baited’ Jimmy to keep going, claiming that the former residents of this bunker used to run up stairs, and get to the top in five minutes.
Initially, Jimmy didn’t respond to such mildly negative reinforcement, but when Terrence said that the former residents ran faster because they could retract their genitals, and nutt-sacks, he got really pissed.
For one thing, Terrence put the image of an alien genital in his mind, which pissed him off greatly, but other than that, he was motivated to try and out-compete the former residents. He started calling them ’pencil dicks’ and there was no way in hell he would accept being beaten by alien pencil dicks, so he kept pushing himself, aiming to reach the tower even if it killed him.
Anyway, now that they were up here, Terrence made yet another bold request, he said, “Okay, now kick the door open.”
“What?” Jimmy parroted.
At that moment, he felt as if he was draining the energy from half the universe just so he could stay calm. If he broke loose now, he’d kill Terrence on the spot, in the most violent way he could think of.
The door in front of him was made of steel, and it was a few inches thick. Not to mention, it was covered with these bumpy layers of melted iron around the door handle, hinges, and basically any other spots that would make the door vulnerable to being kicked down. It was welded shut, and he certainly wasn’t strong enough to bust it open with a kick, or a thousand kicks, for that matter.
Grinding his teeth, he asked, “You can’t open the door? How can you come up here so unprepared? You’re supposed to be a genius, for fuck’s sake!”
“So, you can’t kick it open?” Terrence asked.
Before Jimmy could answer, he leaped off of Jimmy’s shoulder, and walked towards the door. He seemed contemplative, so Jimmy decided to be quiet for a moment, just in case this one-foot critter had a plan in mind that would make this long trip not a total waste of time.
“I didn’t want to wreck any of the technology in there, but oh well, we have no other choice.” Terrence sighed.
Seconds later, he clicked the wrist band on his arm, and then he stretched his arm out, aiming it towards the steel door.
A laser beam as dark as night shot out of his wrist band. It expanded into the shape of a cube, one-meter, or over three feet wide, and then it hit the steel door in the blink of an eye, as if it was the anger of eleven gods!
The impact knocked Jimmy off of his feet. He hadn’t been expecting such a blast coming out of the little man, not at all.
Terrence was not shaken by the impact of his laser beam at all. He remained on his feet, and he didn’t even budge when a wave of hot steam hit his face, as the iron in front of him melted. One would think he was aura farming.
“Jesus Christ…” He shook his head, “Cool wrist band you got there, quarter pounder.”
“I made it myself,” Terrence answered, “They took it away from me before they locked me up in the Cloner. I assume you understand why they took it away.”
“I’m more surprised that they managed to take it away from you,” He expressed, “If I had a weapon like that, I’d kill half of humanity before I’d give it away.”
“I killed half of their team, seventy-two of them, specifically.” Terrence turned around, and smirked, walking away from the boiling hot steam, unscathed, “They made me promises they couldn’t keep, just so I’d help improve their bunker. When they didn’t deliver on their promises, I wiped half of them out, but inevitably, they did manage to capture me, and trap me in the Cloner.”
“God, they really were stupid,” He admitted, “But wait… I was threatening you a while ago, why didn’t you kill me?”
“In my culture, it’s considered evil to kill creatures that are significantly dumber than you, unless they pose a threat.” Terrence offered, “I would’ve killed you if you were a threat to me, but you were gentle, even when you grabbed me by the chest back there. Other cavemen would’ve torn me apart, or they would’ve tried to, at least. I never saw you as a real threat.”
Terrence was bold, but he was honest. In reality, if Terrence didn’t have anything to offer him, he would’ve stepped on him a while ago, but here he was, practically being called a weakling by a one-foot tall alien. He endured a lot of belittling just to figure out how to work the bunker.
Anyway, they had to wait a while until the hot, liquified parts of the iron door cooled down. If they tried to walk past the door now, their limbs would get hurt beyond fixing. Even Terrence wasn’t durable enough to endure the heat of liquid metal, he’d die before he even crossed the door.
They had a couple of hours to kill now, stuck at the top of the staircase, four-hundred meters, or over thirteen-hundred feet above the bunker. This was going to be a long day.
