Chapter 88: House Warming Gift
Midnight came quickly. There was no easy way to notice it, but days in this era lasted only twenty-three hours. The days were literally shorter, which in turn gave the world shorter windows of sunlight, and thus made it harder to move over great distances without getting stranded somewhere random as night time came.
Moving in the night would be problematic for most hunters, most humans, because this was when apex predators walked the ground, looking for their next meal.
However, Jimmy and the rest of them moved along with dinosaurs, who were apex predators themselves, mostly, so they were safe. They weren’t scared of the dangers that loomed in the night, so they kept moving.
In hindsight, even though they had a decent dinosaur platoon, Jimmy and Zik had decided that it was better to move at night, because the chances of running into giants were very low. On any day, they’d love to hunt for giant humans personally, but right now, they had precious young people to transport, so they couldn’t risk running into ten or twenty giants throughout their long journey home.
Normal predators were easier to deal with. Neither of them dared to approach the team with Rampage backing them up, so they were quite safe, and even bored at this point.
Once they got close to the winding river that pierced the grasslands, Rampage stuck his head right into the river, and grabbed a two-ton crocodile, pulling it straight out of the waters! To him, this felt like grabbing a toothpick, he could lift the crocodile no problem, and he pulled it out of the water, just to feed his reptilian friends.
The nine other dinosaurs ripped through the carcass in twenty minutes. They ate it all, and now they had enough energy for the rest of the journey home. They could’ve nibbled on the dead giants a few hours ago, sure, but they were in a rush, as the team feared suffering an ambush.
Anyway, Rampage stuck his head in the river again, and pulled out yet another crocodile. He didn’t throw this one to the ground, but just crushed its spine, and carried it in his mouth.
“How did you teach it to do that?” One of the younglings behind Zik asked.
“I didn’t,” He answered. “He grabbed that for me. I’m assuming he thinks I have kids to feed, but that’s alright, we’ll have the water dinosaur gutted and cooked tomorrow morning. It should keep the tribe fed for a while.”
Rampage was a monster, but he was considerate. He was smart, sentient, and conscious. Everyone had to eat, he knew that much, and he went far enough to provide food for everybody. He was a nightmare to have as an enemy, but he was also the greatest friend one could wish for.
Anyway, after that amazing display of compassion, they were on the move again. Despite the great distance, they were close to the rocky mountains already, and were roughly five hours away from home.
…
After a great deal of blood, sweat and tears, the team finally made it home. Jimmy, Nechi, Anna, and Eni could boast that they saved twenty hunters, since they were the ones who saved Zik, who in turn saved sixteen young men and women, but this was nothing worth arguing over. They could share the credit.
Quite frankly, they were just happy to be home. They missed this place, and the safety it provided.
After Rampage lowered his house warming gift close to the cavern, while he stood from a safe distance, Zik climbed down from Rampage’s back, and the rest of the younglings followed suit.
The rest of the team parked their pet dinosaurs near Rampage, because they figured that it was best if they all rested together. No predator was going to bother their pets when they were together, regardless of how stupid any predator might be.
Anyway, the tribe has heard Rampage’s earthshaking steps, from the looks of it, because the entire tribe, even the elders, suddenly poured out of the cavern with spears in their hands. They were ready to fight, but one could only imagine their surprise, and raw joy when they saw that Jimmy, Anna, Nechi, and Eni came home with twenty hunters!
Everyone rushed to hug each other. Joy overwhelmed them, the crowd was crying and cheering at the same time, and they were simply happy that at least some hunters survived the massacres.
Eni had briefed them two days ago. She told everyone that most of the hunters were wiped out by giants, so it wasn’t surprising that they all came out with weapons in their hands. They mistook Rampage’s steps as that of a giant human’s. Well, he was a giant himself, just a reptilian, but he wasn’t a threat to the tribe. He was loyal.
Either way, the tribe was happy that at least a fourth of the hunters made it back home, safe and sound. Many mothers and girlfriends cried for their lost partners, or even children, but there was nothing they could do about it. They just had to live with their loss, and be happy that they won’t starve anytime soon.
Zik spoke of great things about Jimmy right after everyone frantically hugged each other. He described him as a hero who could tame dinosaurs, and said that he was ten times more powerful than any of the elders who hid in their caves. This took guts, because the elders were right in front of him, but he didn’t care, he had a pet Argentinosaurus to protect him if the elders got fuzzy.
Jimmy’s parents held him with joy. They were proud of him. He had forgotten that he had parents in this world as well, so it was odd to see them again, they were like strangers to him, but it was still nice to be around family.
Anyway, at some point, Jimmy approached Zik within the crowd, and thanked him. Other than that, he felt pressured to apologize to him, over a matter that felt as old as time right now.
“I fixed the dinosaurs, Zik.” He said, “I’m sorry if Gutty got your feelings worked up a couple of days ago. I didn’t know his breath was making people horny, or sexual towards me.”
“What in Rampage’s left toe are you talking about, boy?” Zik exclaimed, his eyebrows knitted together in confusion. “I left that day because I went after Rampage, not because I wanted to put it in ya. I was angry, not horny, as you young ones say.”
Furthermore, he expressed, “I’ve been without a dick for many moons, and if anyone deserves to get a ride first, it’s Cika, not you, or anyone else. I thank you for healing me, but do not apologize for mistakes that did not affect me. I haven’t been ’horny’ in a while, not horny enough, at least.”
It took a moment, but Jimmy figured out that he had been lied to. The fear of being fucked in the ass had been a great motivator to help him fix the ’horny disease’, but now he discovered that it didn’t affect men at all. Rulya had tricked him, just to make him find the cure quicker!
“That sneaky little bitch,” He said, silently, “Now I’m angry that I didn’t put it in her.”
