Chapter 257: 27 Wounded Tribesfolk
The use of the guns came to an end the moment the enemy got too close.
The shooters, especially those with bigger guns, couldn’t shoot the enemy without having their guns slapped around, therefore risking shooting people of their own. They knew what their guns were capable of, and so they knew they couldn’t afford to make mistakes.
On another note, the shooters were cavemen first, and everything else second. In direct, close-combat confrontations, they did not care to use guns, but instead doubled-back on what felt most natural to them. They started swinging, either their fists, or their guns, using them as clubs.
Most of their guns weren’t even out of charge. They still had a few shots left in them, but nearly no one cared to shoot them. The tribesfolk were fighting the enemy in crude ways, good old fashioned head bonking.
Some of the shooters, who were either too short, or too young to put power behind their punches, did in fact use their pistols properly. They probably got closer to the concept of ’pistol whipping’ opps than any human ever will in the following hundreds, thousands, and maybe even millions of years. They were the first pistol whippers in history, recorded or unrecorded, and they were good at it.
When opponents punched them to the ground, they used that opportunity to shoot their opponents on the crotch. Blowing dicks clean off had a certain effect on their opponents. The shooters won those battles very easily.
Towards the end of the battle, Mika popped up behind her friends. She was supposed to be high up in the mountains, and she had been up until now, but since she couldn’t help her people whatsoever from up there, Eni had sped through the hills of the mountain, and brought her down here.
After that point, the two of them started lending a hand.
With the aid of her abilities, Mika nailed enemies down to the ground. She was quick with it, and mainly targeted enemies who were already ’occupied’ with fighting her people. She picked them off easily, and her work was clean, so to speak. Bloody, but accurate.
Eni sped around, and cut heads clean off. She was fast, at least ten times faster than the average caveman, all thanks to the fact that she was a Field Runner. She was built for speed, and so, she used the spears that the enemy had dropped across the ground, to cut their heads off. Fireballs couldn’t hit her, and spears had it impossible to hit her, so she remained unwounded.
Anyway, along with everyone’s contributions, and with Rampage, and even the seven QTs lending a hand in battle, either stomping, or pecking enemies on the head, the battle was over quickly.
Plenty of the tribesfolk were wounded, yes, more than half of them were, but each and every one of them managed to survive, and see the battle to the end.
The frantic line of enemies dwindled down to zero. They were all killed by tired, angered, and wounded cavemen, and women, respectively.
“Fucking finally…” Jimmy grunted.
The dead, often flattened bodies of the enemies did not make him sick in the stomach. He felt fine, he felt happy, and considering that he hadn’t been injured whatsoever, he felt healthy too, minus the utter lack of sleep he suffered through recently.
Jimmy looked at the people around him, and just knew that it was time he paid them back for all the contributions they made. He felt that the shooters could’ve done a better job, yes, but he appreciated that neither of them fled from battle. He had a feeling that a lot of them had wanted to flee, and he understood that, but regardless of anyone’s perspective on the matter, he had to pay them back now, by healing them.
With exactly twenty-seven people injured, some worse than others, he could already tell that he didn’t have enough mana to heal all of them. He wanted to, but he only had twenty-seven percent of it left in his mana pool, so he had to settle with treating the most severely injured people first.
“Gotta stop that bloodflow,” He held his breath in, frustrated, as he looked at his father’s wound. “Brace yourself.”
Jimmy had tapped into his father’s heart already, and it might seem biased for him to help his father first, but he didn’t care. He planned to treat every wounded man or woman in nearly the exact same way.
First, he pulled the head of the spear out of his father’s shoulder. He pulled it quickly, as he didn’t plan on wasting any time.
“Son of a whore!” Gnegor shouted. “Haven’t felt pain like that in a while.”
“Language!” Lasra, his wife, exclaimed from behind them. “Be a man.”
“No kidding?” Gnegor parroted, unsure of what his wife was talking about. “Last time I checked, woman, I had a penis. Unless it got bit off, of course I’ll be a man!”
Jimmy wanted to laugh, but then he was worried. He feared that his father was delirious, and since he couldn’t heal the chipped bones, and torn tendons on his father’s shoulder right now, he was hoping that the damage he suffered wouldn’t put his life at risk.
There was very little Jimmy could do for him right now, but with a little bit of mana, roughly one-percent of it, he sealed his father’s wound. He couldn’t afford to heal the rest of his father’s shoulder right now, even if he wanted to, but one thing that was of vital importance, was to make sure that his wounded people didn’t bleed out.
He didn’t know what severe blood loss looked like specifically, but if either one of his people were going through it, he had to treat them as fast as possible. He had to seal their wounds, because as far as he knew, severe blood loss could kill people in as little as five minutes!
The battle had lasted longer than that, so he sincerely hoped that the people which Gutaxun and Hannah lifted out of the battlefield, didn’t bleed out already.
“Hang on tight, I gotta check everyone else out, but I’ll heal your shoulder, I promise.” He said to his father, “If you’re feeling sleepy, let me know, but do not fall asleep. I can’t bring people back to life.”
With some common sense, and with the aid of his overpowered, and yet severely mana-dependent abilities, Jimmy started running around the remains of the battlefields, looking at wounds, and trying to determine which people needed his help first.
Since everyone who remained in the battlefield were standing on their own two feet, he focused his attention on the people that Gutaxun had pulled out of the warzone. He did so by asking Eni for a ride.
She grabbed him, and two seconds later, he was on Gutaxun’s back, even though his beloved pet had been hundreds of feet away.
The quick ride made him dizzy, but he had to shake it off, and focus. Half of the wounded who were on Gutaxun’s back, six of them, to be exact, were already asleep.
That scared him beyond bounds, as he feared that they had bled out, and died already, but then, he sensed twelve heartbeats. They were still alive, all of them, but he could tell that their heartbeats were faint, and beat much slower than they were supposed to.
Knowing that he may only have a few minutes, five at most to heal those who were the most vulnerable, he got to work right away.
“Get Gutaxun back to the battlefield,” He said to the ladies, “We have plenty of other people to help, or heal.”
Jimmy didn’t want to leave anyone behind, he didn’t want to leave them unattended, and he just hoped that he had enough mana to keep these people alive for at least a couple of hours.
Well, he wanted to keep them alive for decades, and let mother nature take its course at old age, but for now, he needed them to stay alive long enough to let his mana pool regenerate. He needed a lot more mana if he was going to heal the bone, tendon, and nerve damage that the stabs had caused.
For now, he focused on the six most vulnerable people within the wounded, and one by one, he sealed their wounds.
Some of them were even stabbed thrice, which was quite alarming, but he gained a great advantage from the fact that he could restore their blood vessels very effectively, and cheaply too. Blood vessels weren’t as complicated as one would think they were, and with him being the healer, he had to do very little in order to get the blood of the wounded flowing in their bodies like it was supposed to. A sealed wound, and a fixed blood vessel gave the most vulnerable injured men and women a great chance at survival.
It only cost him three-percent of his mana to help seal up the wounds of the six most vulnerable.
Now, he was down to twenty-four percent mana, and he was hoping to God he could be efficient enough to keep everyone alive with what little mana he had. There were twenty more wounded people that he hadn’t tended to.
