Chapter 148: You Love Me

Everything was dark, like an endless pit filled with fog until he caught a small glimpse of light.

Tristan’s head throbbed badly as he slowly opened his eyes, the room was fully illuminated by bright morning sunlight streaming in from the windows.

He slowly tried to get up but stiffened as he felt a soft body glued to his own, he frowned before slowly looking down only to be met with the familiar face of a woman. Half of her body was covered beneath the sheets and the upper half was exposed, stark naked.

Anger flickered through his hazel eyes as he roughly pushed that woman off him, then his mind began to remember what happened last night.

He hadn’t noticed the smell at first until he’d come out of the shower, and the more he had inhaled the smoke from that thing, the more his body had felt strange…his memories stopped at the very moment he had passed out, he had no recollection of anything else that happened here last night.

But then putting all the details together he realized…Erica, that thing she burned in his room must have made him feel that way.

“What the hell did you do?” He uttered, his voice deeply laced with rage.

Erica who had landed on the floor when he shoved her away looked up at him with confused eyes, but after hearing his words she shook her head as if entirely clueless herself.

She looked down at her own naked body then realization seemed to light up her eyes as if she only just understood what must have happened between them, standing on her feet and sauntering shamelessly naked towards him on the bed, she trailed her hand on his exposed chest as she said, “You and me…i think we had sex last night. And from what I can remember, you enjoyed every second of it.”

Erica let out a small squeal as he shoved her away once more, this time she landed on the floor with a lot more force but she showed no pain, instead her squeal morphed into a short laughter. “Don’t tell me you’re angry, you were so passionate last night.”

“How dare you…?” His growl made her flinch in fear for a moment, she could feel the fury that radiated from his tone, she had anticipated this, his unbridled anger, but she knew exactly what to do. After all, the only thing she needed to do was whisper the facts she wanted him to believe, and the power of the incense she’d burned into his system last night would do the rest.

Quickly, her expression changed, her eyes gleaming with unshed tears as she looked up at him pitifully.

“I’m sorry…I don’t know what came over me. I thought…I don’t know what I was thinking. I was wrong…I was wrong to have broken into your room…but it helped you to see your feelings for me clearly right? You love me, can’t you remember? You said it to me last night, you even showed me as you made love to me last night. You just… didn’t realize your feelings before.” Erica pitifully crawled up to his feet by the bed and cried.

The man wasn’t looking at her, his head was lowered and she couldn’t see a single expression on his face.

I will never let our marriage be fake today!

She had to put her plans into action the night before their wedding. Erica had envisioned a huge celebration, where the whole world would be invited and the whole world would know that she was now Tristan Grayson’s bride, but the Blakewood family had instead prepared a simple ceremony with only people with the Blakewood name in attendance, and by the contract she signed with Tristan no one in the world would know she was his wife only in name, but it wasn’t real. The marriage would be fake!

Erica didn’t want this, she absolutely wouldn’t accept this!

Last night had been her final resort, to hell with the contract, today he would make her his wife, his real wife in front of the whole world!

“What did I say to you last night?” He asked after several seconds of silence. Erica smirked, anticipation glinting in her eyes.

It was working!

The effects of the incense was working!

Today she would walk down the aisle with Tristan, and that contract, she would rip it apart and dump it in the trash.

“That you love me, you said it yourself. Tristan, you always have, you just didn’t realize it. I’m the one who has always been by your side, I’m the one you fell in love with, and last night I could feel your love for me.” Erica quickly said reaching a hand over as if to touch him but then held back. She couldn’t be sure that the incense had worked effectively like she was promised.

If the incense had worked, these words she just told him would become his reality.

Reality would warp along with her words and create solid memories in his mind.

’Finally Tristan, finally… you’re all mine!’

Erica was busy celebrating in her head, she thought about all the things she would do now that she had his love, thought about how she would publicly rub it in that Celine’s face when he would openly show his affections for her. She didn’t catch the hint of a dark smirk hanging in the side of his lips.

“Of all people in the world, you should know better than to believe in utter delusions. Love? You think I’m in love with you?” He raised his head and she spotted his eyes, hazel yet the rims were reddened with unbridled rage.

Erica’s eyes widened in shock.

How…how…how was this happening?

“Ah!” His hand was rigid as it clamped the back of her head, her hair fisted in his grip holding her face up.

“You did this, because you believed I was in love with you?”

“Tristan, you’re hurting me…ah, you’re hurting me Tristan!” Her pain filled voice sounded extremely pitiful but there was no hint of mercy in his eyes.

Last night she thought it was only a matter of time…the incense should have worked, manipulating facts in his mind and his memories! She had seen it work before, why wasn’t it working on him?

There was no way out now, she had to cling to another way to escape. “Tristan please…I was drunk last night, my friends made me drink because I would be married today. I didn’t mean to do it…”

“Lie to me one more time and I’ll snap your neck in two.”

Realizing that no matter what she said he wouldn’t believe her, Erica instantly gripped onto the next possible thing that could save her right now.

“After everything that happened between us last night, you can’t turn your back on me anymore. Have you forgotten how you kissed me last night, have you forgotten how you kept telling me that I was important to you? You slept with me last night Tristan!”
