Celine gaped at Kaleb who was still smiling at her with a small twinkle in his eyes that seemed to say,

Her gaze fell back to Tristan whose eyes met her own, they looked at each other for a while before he shot a stern glare at Kaleb who didn’t flinch under his boss’s gaze.

“Hahaha!” A burst of laughter suddenly sounded from Ryan who came and wrapped his arm around Kaleb’s shoulder, “You sure do have a wild imagination Kaleb, her, as my cousin’s wife? Ridiculous!”

“What do you mean by that Mr Blakewood, if Mrs Grayson isn’t president’s wife, is she yours then?” Kaleb asked in a taunting tone.

After freeing Celine’s hand from Ryan, Tristan pushed himself to stand between them making sure Ryan was shoved away to the side while Celine stood with him he said, “The one with a wild imagination is you cousin, not Kaleb, otherwise you wouldn’t be claiming my wife as yours.”

Tristan had initially not wanted to accept the little game Kaleb was playing, but if he refused it, his stupid cousin Ryan would take advantage of the situation, if Celine was going to play as anyone’s wife, then it would be his and no one else.

Hearing the words ’my wife’ from Tristan’s lips Celine gazed up at him, she couldn’t help the small smile that tugged up her lips.

Kaleb quickly stepped forward, “We’re really sorry about this, this is a misunderstanding Mrs Grayson is the wife of our company’s president Tristan Grayson.”

The messengers looked from Tristan to Ryan who was still clutching his arm In pain, then said, “We don’t know if this is a misunderstanding or not, but we strictly have to abide by our goddess Rowena’s rules, only a married couple will be allowed entrance into the old dwellings.”

Kaleb cursed Ryan in his mind, things were already beginning to go smoothly, the people wouldn’t have begun doubting if he didn’t open his stupid mouth to speak, Kaleb moved towards the men and said,

“Don’t be like that, you know how it is with a beautiful woman, actually our bosses are cousins, but they both fell for the same woman, in the end she chose our CEO instead, what woman wouldn’t, if she were asked to choose between the president and the vice president, it’s obvious what her choice would be, not to even mention the difference in their looks, a woman would certainly choose the better looking one right, but our CEO’s cousin is still bitter about it, so he’s not willing to let go which is why he’s behaving like this, I hope you understand.” Kaleb explained in hushed tones but everyone there all heard his words.

“Who the hell are you calling bitter…!” Ryan was enraged by how Kaleb was portraying him to people, apart from ridiculing his position in the company, Kaleb was even ridiculing his looks and comparing him to Tristan? Ryan had already started yelling in his anger when the messengers ignored him and spoke to Celine instead,

“Young woman, can you please clarify who between these men is your husband?” The messengers seeing how angry Ryan was behaving had started to believe Kaleb’s words, but they still asked Celine for clarification.

Kaleb gazed pleadingly at Celine who looked stumped by the whole situation.

She met Kaleb’s gaze and couldn’t help but praise his story twisting skills in her head, in the blink of an eye he had come up with a story and even a backstory about Tristan and Ryan fighting over the same woman, she could tell the messengers had already believed in Kaleb’s story because of Ryan’s reaction.

Celine glanced up at Tristan who was standing by her side, he looked back at her and their eyes met, as usual there was no expression on his face, but his eyes were quietly fixed onto her own.

Celine smiled slightly and said, “Yes, he is my husband.” Not taking her eyes off Tristan at all.

Ryan who had been shoved to the side glared at the pair he was about to take a step towards Celine and refute her words when she quickly added, “And he is my husband’s cousin.” She said looking at Ryan this time,

“Come on Ryan, don’t tell me you haven’t gotten over this infatuation of yours, it’s pathetically sickening and quite childish.” She uttered straightforwardly.

“You…!” Ryan was at a loss for words, he couldn’t believe she chose his cousin over him, so even in a case of pretense, she would still choose to pretend as his cousin’s wife than with him? Ryan felt so enraged his handsome face twisted turning so red in anger, but he couldn’t do anything about it.

The messengers now looked at him with a weird gaze, as if he was a deranged mentally unstable person who was still lusting after his own cousin’s wife.

Just their gazes were enough to humiliate him, one was certain he wouldn’t want to hear what they thought of him.

The messengers having finally clarified the whole thing said, “Mr and Mrs Grayson, please come this way, you can now both enter the old dwellings.”
