Chapter 84: A Stranger To Her

Tristan had a rough day even before it began. His grandfather had called him to the Blakewood mansion earlier that morning to discuss project X and since Grayson Corp was now a company under their rule, they had a say in it’s management. That had significantly ruined Tristan’s mood, he wasn’t accustomed to sharing his leadership with others, not even his own grandparents.

After official discussions, the old man had heartily congratulated him on his upcoming wedding.

Why was it so hard for two old people to accept the fact that he didn’t want to be committed to some woman in marriage? He didn’t want anything to do with it, but it wasn’t hard to play along in a farce just to please their fantasies so he could get his company back.

His head had begun throbbing and he placed his fingers upon his forehead massaging gently, unbothered about the names being called into the boardroom. These people had no place in his company, he reminded himself and they would be gone soon. But a name Kaleb suddenly said seemed to echo in his mind taking several seconds to fully sink in.

The minute he raised his head to look, something in his chest seemed to suddenly awaken, like a half dead plant suddenly receiving water into it’s roots, slowly coming alive at a rate visible to the eye.

A woman came walking into the board room, her long blonde hair fell in wavy curls behind. She had incredibly fair, milky white skin that radiated a lovely glow, she was wearing a white suit that fit nicely to her shapely figure.

The aura that swept into the room came along with a mesmerizing floral scent, feminine and light, tender yet powerful in a way that made everyone turn their necks yearning for a look. Their gazes landed on beauty, the kind that mesmerized the eyes keeping it trapped unable to look away.

She had a heart stopping smile that lifted her crystalline eyes, there was confidence in that gaze, unwavering and enchanting. Yet her whole being exuded a soft aloofness, completely different from the refined coyness of the other ladies they were used to being around.

Some of the board members found themselves getting up from the seats mostly in awe of the woman’s aura and beauty.

At first a few had snickered to themselves. Was there even a need for such introductions when the new board members were just lower grade members who were here because of small investments not worth more than a few millions, but upon setting their eyes on the woman, all their jaws dropped. She was a beauty that couldn’t be ignored by both men and women.

“Good day everyone, my name is Celine Roberts. I hope we have a fruitful collaboration henceforth.” Her voice sounded lovely and smooth as she introduced herself, like the sweet melody of the softest breeze in spring, light and refreshing.

“Welcome to Grayson Corp miss Roberts, it’s very pleasant to make your acquaintance.” A male board member standing close to her was the first to react, he extended a hand for her to shake kindly while not being able to take his eyes off her.

“Thank you, Mr…”

“Carlton, Trevor Carlton.” He introduced as they shook hands.

The other board members also introduced themselves and shook hands with her. Something they hadn’t done with the other new members who just arrived.

Attractive people tend to receive the most attention, even without them doing anything. Some of the board members had no lustful or romantic intentions towards Celine, however she was extremely pleasing to the eyes leading them to automatically be drawn to treating her well.

A few of the female board members gazed at her enviously, such a beauty was rare to find, she could capture the hearts of both men and women.

Since everyone was shaking her hands so enthusiastically, Celine went along with the flow. She moved over to shake the next person who came up and he took her soft hands but didn’t shake it like the others did, without taking his eyes off her he moved her knuckles to his lips and placed his lips upon them softly. “Ryan Blakewood, it’s lovely to meet you miss Roberts.”

His eyes couldn’t conceal the desire to flirt as Ryan introduced himself. He had been mesmerized since she walked into the room. At first he had thought the meeting boring and quite uneventful, but her entrance made it feel like rain on a dry barren land.

Celine almost frowned at his actions which was different from everyone else’s professional introductions, but she held back from showing any discomfort. She wanted to leave a good impression as she would be working with them all for some time, so she smiled and took her hand out of his grip.

After Ryan, Celine had officially met everyone in the room, everyone except…him. He was precisely the one she was dreading to meet.

She felt his familiar burning gaze from her side, but her expression was perfectly schooled, she turned to him, meeting those deep hazel eyes absolutely identical to her son’s.

His expression was cool and rigid, it didn’t betray his thoughts as he just stared at her.

That night they had both been strangers to each other, but they had shared something deep that went far deeper than the surface.

He had given her a quiet comfort, made her feel safe in the moment it had felt like the whole world was out to get her, made her feel protected. They had shared a night of passion, heat that still made her heart race, perhaps he still recognized her, or maybe not, but regardless of the past, right now he would still be a stranger to her.

With a radiant smile on her face, she extended her hand just like she had done with everyone else in the boardroom.

“Hello, a pleasure to make your acquaintance, I’m Celine Roberts.”

The smile was soft, casually friendly, the kind of polite smile one would show to an absolute stranger they were meeting for the very first time.

Those sharp brows frowned deeply.
