Chapter 164: Do You Know What I Like About You?

Tristan frowned as he saw her trying to make her way onto the ship without even properly watching where she was placing her foot, and as he predicted, her legs slipped and she was almost falling off until he swiftly caught her in his arms, her eyes still widened in fright gazed up at him in slight bewilderment then relief.

“Can’t you watch where you’re going?” He immediately scolded with displeasure in his tone.

“I-I was just…” She wanted to speak but didn’t know what to say then merely said, “Thank you.”

Tristan gazed into her large blue eyes, the instant excited rush of his own blood made him suddenly aware of their position as he felt the soft moulds of her body pressing lightly onto him. As if electrocuted Tristan quickly moved to let her go but she had been unprepared for his sudden movement. The minute he pulled away from her she unsteadily swayed staggering a bit until he grabbed her arm to avoid her falling, in the process, she was swayed over to him again as she landed against his chest.

Their gazes locked once more, and as her light feminine fragrance wafted into his nose, he pushed down the stifling urge to draw her into his arms and bury his head in the crook of her neck.

He found himself recalling the night they had been locked in, he had awakened some unpleasant memories and he had found relief and comfort holding her in his arms as she lightly stroked his back, a calming gesture that sent warmth into his heart, but it was precisely that he was wary of, the comfortable feeling of warmth, the fact that she could see his vulnerability and make him open up to her, his guard had been weakened by her and she had seen right into him. Such emotions were something he just couldn’t afford.

This time, Tristan made sure she was steady on her feet before letting her go, without another glance or another word he walked past her heading into the ship.

Celine opened and closed her mouth about to say something but then decided against it as Tristan walked away. Just a second ago she thought she had caught a fleeting emotion in his eyes until he masked it up again with his usual indifference.

She knew he had a painful turmoil in his heart, she saw the fleeting pain in his eyes which he would end up masking with cold and indifference. Celine didn’t know what pained him, but she felt a stinging pang in her chest as she watched him leave.

The ship pulled up along the ports of a vast busy island, the air was bitingly cold and the entire place was busily packed with people coming to and fro.

The Rowena islands was connected to a small City, this place was a bright and beautiful location and a favorite tourist area the past few years. Countless important celebrities were known to run over the Rowena islands for vacations or just to get away, and with the development of such a feat, a few large companies were all striving to build beautiful holiday resorts in the island, however, not many companies succeeded.

The market opportunities were incredibly high, which was why the Grayson Corp took it as an opportunity to build a branch of their own resort in the location as well.

Grayson Corp owned a reputable chain of hotels all over the world, if they were to build a luxury resort at the Rowena islands, it was certain to flourish, but never did they expect to have to go through such hardships before they could acquire the lands needed for the construction of their resort.

One would initially wonder, with all the available opportunities for business, why many resorts or holiday homes hadn’t already been built in the Rowena islands yet, leaving them with only a few high class resorts and hotels that many cannot afford. Perhaps a lot of companies and real estate establishments have also given up due to how hard it was to obtain the lands in this area.

The Grayson Corp employees were all checked into a hotel, where they came across a lot of people here on vacation and many tourists.

Many others were unable to get rooms or any bookings into the hotels due to how tight it was, the island was just beginning to develop, yet it’s natural sight seeing locations and relaxing surroundings that took people out of the bustling modern day world made it begin to top the charts as the favourite spot for tourists and celebrities. But for normal people aiming for a vacation, getting a place to stay upon arrival was quite difficult.

All the employees were led Into the large building of the hotel, the place was designed like an ancient Arabian palace. A huge fountain came into view upon entering the building, the fountain holding the gigantic figurine of a beautiful woman, her body shape looking like that of a mesmerizing seductress, yet her face was one of innocence and pure beauty.

The steward leading them into the hotel saw how a lot of them were having their eyes glued to the fountain, especially the figure of the woman, so he explained,

“Ah, this here is Rowena, the island is named after her, and she was an ancient goddess of the Rowena islands inhabitants, it is said that she was a brave and powerful woman, that conquered and rescued the Rowena islands from a two headed demon lord back in the ancient times,” the steward explained.

Celine had her eyes trained onto the statue, she smiled hearing the steward’s explanation. A two headed demon? She thought, how superstitious, but then the people in the Rowena islands probably believed in it. But then she was drawn to the statue of the woman as she found herself gazing intently at it, slightly interested in the story behind it.

The steward guided them towards the floor where all their rooms were, some were glad to quickly enter their rooms, others were still curious about the whole place and just kept their luggage then went out to explore, Celine was among the former, she was quite exhausted that she immediately went into her room hoping to shower and get some sleep.

Her room was quite large with a beautiful royal themed queen sized bed, there were long glass to ceiling length windows surrounding the whole place, but were covered by some thick deep red curtains in case one didn’t want too much natural light coming in, but Celine pulled some of the curtains open to get a clear view of the sea. From her room, she could see the billowing waves of the ocean in the breeze, and the light blue colors of the sky, the sun was nowhere to be seen, and the clouds made lovely shapes in the sky.

Celine arranged her things in the closet since she knew the clear fact that they would be here for a while, going into the bathroom, she was welcomed by a giant jacuzzi, Celine smiled brightly opting for a relaxing bath rather than a shower.

After which she felt completely relaxed, all her sore muscles from the flight and the ship felt calmed, she dressed herself up in some casual clothes, but wore a sweater over it, deciding to go out for a bit of winter shopping in Rowena main city after a good rest since the place turned out to have an even colder weather than they had anticipated.

Celine jumped onto the large fluffy bed that felt extremely comfortable compared to the situations in which she’d slept these past few days, she turned sideways, gazing out into the open sky and the seas as her eyes slowly closed and she drifted off to sleep.

By the time Celine woke up, the sky outside had darkened and she was awoken to the rumbling of her own stomach, that was when she realized she had actually missed lunch, Celine got up contemplating whether to go out and explore then find something to eat or just order something into her room, she ended up choosing the former.

She changed her clothes Into a casual pair of jeans and a white top with her sweater over it, then went out of the room.

She asked for directions and was led towards the restaurant inside the hotel, arriving there she caught sight of so many familiar faces among the employees of Grayson Corp, Celine was just about heading to one of their tables when a tall figure suddenly barred her way.

“Don’t tell me you’re avoiding me, haven’t you missed me yet?” Ryan came standing in front of her.

She glanced up at him with a bored look, was he crazy, couldn’t he get the memo when she had almost snapped the bone in his arms for him to leave her alone?

“What do you want Mr Blakewood?” She asked with a bored yet professional tone.

Ryan took a step closer saying, “Aren’t you done playing hard to get, you know you want me so just admit it, there’s no need denying your attraction for me because I can see it.”

Celine rolled her eyes. Just what drama did this idiot think he was pulling with her right now?

“Listen Mr Blakewood, whatever delusions you have in your head right now I’d advise you clear it, I thought I made myself perfectly clear to you on the plane and if you didn’t understand that I am more than happy to explain it to you all over again.” She uttered with an undisguised threat in her tone, if he really wanted her to break his arms, she would gladly do so as long as that would teach him to stay away from her and quit bugging her.

Celine was about to walk past him when he suddenly grabbed her by the shoulders, “Do you know what I like about you? Your feisty temper and your confidence. It’s like you were made for me, so how can I just let you go? I definitely won’t stop until I make you mine.”

Celine’s eyes narrowed sharply.
