Chapter 165: Mrs Grayson

“Do you know what I like about you? Your feisty temper and your confidence. It’s like you were made for me, so how can I just let you go? I definitely won’t stop until I make you mine.”

Celine’s eyes narrowed sharply.

Before she could get the chance to unleash her anger and snap the bones in his hands for how he dared to grab her, Ryan had suddenly let her go and walked away, leaving her shoulders which he had gripped tightly. She suddenly realized they were in public, and teaching him the lesson he deserves would surely attract much more attention than she wanted.

Celine watched his retreating back with a frown on her face wondering just what kind of a persistent person he was.

She decided to ignore him and his stupid persistent obsession for now and went ahead to have her dinner.

The next morning, Celine was called by Ryan who insisted she come with them to the meeting with the island chief.

The meeting was only supposed to be between the higher ups of the company, so technically, only Tristan and Ryan were to attend, however Ryan had still persistently called her to go with them.

Celine wanted to refuse him at first, but she was quite curious about the Rowena islands inhabitants and didn’t want to stay all day in her room without doing anything, also, Tristan would be there, she wouldn’t pass up the chance to tempt him if she could so Celine agreed to go.

She got up and quickly showered, then dressed up and hurried outside.

Celine met them outside the resort building, where Tristan was talking hushly with Kaleb and Ryan was standing with them as well as another man who was unfamiliar to Celine.

“You’re here?” Ryan exclaimed upon seeing her and Celine almost rolled her eyes.

Tristan’s gaze lightly landed on her then he looked away before suddenly realizing it was her and quickly looked back at her.

He frowned, then noticed she came to stand with them as if she was really about to go on the meeting with them so he asked, “What are you doing here?”

“Isn’t it obvious Tristan, I’m coming along in the meeting with the island chief.” She stated, purposely addressing him by his name because she could see in his eyes he liked it everytime she did.

His frown deepened as he said sternly, “You’ll do no such thing, you’re not needed at this meeting.”

“Allow me to remind you once more that I’m an investor of this project, it is better you know the fact that you cannot tell me to or not to attend whatever meeting I choose.” She retorted steadily gazing into his eyes.

He clenched his jaw then gritted, “Fine.” Shooting a glare over to Ryan before he turned around to leave.

The unfamiliar man with them was just someone who would direct them towards the island chief’s residence.

Celine was surprised they all had to walk towards their destination, then found out the chief’s residence was actually in a place called the old dwellings, where all the natural Rowena islands inhabitants stayed. It was said that they lived in a small town of their own in the deeper part of the islands, leaving the outer part of the islands to the tourists and visitors.

They arrived at a quieter, and empty side of the island, with vast yellow sands and a thick forest behind it.

Behind the yellows sands were endless forests, a thick pack of trees together that made one wonder just what was beyond them.

Two men, stood straight on the sand as if awaiting the arrival of the guests,

“Are you the expected people from Grayson Corp?” The men asked seeing them approaching.

Kaleb stepped forward to speak to them, “Yes we are, we have a meeting with the island chief.”

The men gauged the visitors then the one who spoke earlier spoke again, “The island chief’s residence is located in the deepest most sacred parts of the island, a place fortified and blessed by goddess Rowena herself, the chief has a few instructions before you can be allowed entrance, if you can meet up with those requirements, you can proceed in and have the meeting, if not, he says to let you know he’s afraid the deal won’t be able to push through.” The man relayed his message in a firm voice.

Kaleb glanced over at Tristan who nodded, but still having a displeased expression on his face,

“We are ready to meet all the requirements.” Kaleb said agreeing to their request.

The messenger nodded, “Very well, first, the chief has asked to meet with the company’s CEO himself, no other employees are to come with him.”

At this demand, everyone looked at each other in bewilderment, but Tristan spoke up, “Everyone else can go back, I’ll go on my own.” Tristan agreed stepping forward.

“Secondly, you are asked to agree to follow and abide by all the rules of the island the moment you step into our territory.”

At that Tristan nodded, then asked, “Is that all?”

“Yes, those are all our conditions.” The messenger replied.

Tristan gave Kaleb some instructions then turned towards the messengers asking them to lead the way but they stopped him, “Wait, before you enter, there is a strict rule you have to follow.” The messenger said.

Since Tristan had agreed to follow all their rules, he didn’t have any problem with it as he asked, “What is the rule.”

“The goddess Rowena is a woman of love, she believes every man requires a woman with support by his side, the rule of our island states that no unmarried man is allowed into the old dwellings, the chief has asked to come with your wife if you have one, and if not, we cannot carry out the deal with you, for that will be going against the rules set by our goddess.” The messenger explained with a straight face.

Everyone was taken aback at this sudden turn of events, as they got here, they had finally thought they could get the deal and everything would be resolved quickly, but this request had completely changed the course of everyone’s expectations.

The CEO wasn’t married, it was said that he discarded his own bride before the marriage could even take place…it was over, they’d lost this deal! Everyone thought hopelessly.

Tristan’s brows drew together hearing such a rule. This deal was extremely important to the Grayson Corp which was why he was ready to accept all their conditions in order to be able to seal the deal quickly, but such an unusual rule had really changed everything.

Everyone fell silent and Celine quietly stood at the side wondering how things would unfold.

Kaleb gazed hopelessly at the messengers and his boss, they were done for, they had lost this deal after all the trouble, their boss was an unmarried man, so that meant he couldn’t be allowed in and the deal would be off.

He was just beginning to wallow in the hopelessness of the situation when his eyes fell on Celine standing quietly at the side, his previously downcast eyes lit up like a light bulb as he quickly stepped forward.

“What a coincidence, our company’s CEO had indeed come along this wife on this trip.” Kaleb quickly said to the messengers.

Everyone’s eyes turned to him in astonishment, including Tristan who stared at him with a raised brow. As if questioning what he was doing.

But Kaleb ignored their stares with a self righteous look in his eyes. They would all thank him later, he thought in his mind.

With a knowing smile on his face he turned towards the silent Celine and said, “Mrs Grayson, it appears you might have to accompany your husband into the old dwellings.”

Celine was suddenly dumbstruck as she gaped with her mouth slightly hung open.
