Chapter 155: Audition

She continued to run but the altar was long, too long it never ended, until she crashed at some point and fell to the floor.

“Ha!” With a gasp, Celine shot up on the bed massaging her aching head.

“What the hell was that dream?” It felt like all her fears, her emotions and wants merged together in form of a dream that didn’t exactly make sense.

“Celine, don’t tell me you’re still in bed!” She heard a voice outside her door as someone instantly shot into her room.

Elise looked horrified, “God Celine, you’re going to be late for your audition.”

“What audition?” Celine grumbled in a sleepy voice.

“Auditions for The Stars We Steal, silly get up!”

Since it had been quite a while, Celine had almost forgotten that today was the day she planned to steal the spot of female lead from her beloved little sister.

It didn’t take her much time to shower and dress up, leaving for the auditions with Elise who kept repeatedly instructing her on what to do.

“Celine, are you listening?” Elise called when she noticed she was distractedly staring out the window on the car looking lost.

When Celine’s attention returned to the car, Elise looked into her eyes trying to see what was wrong. “Is something bothering you, are you not confident about the audition?”

“It’s not that, I was just thinking about something else.”

“Something else like what?” Elise asked curiously.

Celine sighed but couldn’t bring herself to answer.

She was going to be married soon, it was a decision she had taken, but she couldn’t bring herself to feel…happy.

A special room was prepared for Lilian at the audition venue, makeup artists and assistants gathered around her. Someone massaging her feet, someone dusting light blush onto her cheeks.

She was wearing a silver colored bodysuit to fit with the main character’s attire for the scene she had chosen to play in the audition. Truth be told, she didn’t need to be here to audition, but of course to avoid people talking about her easy access into the entertainment industry, she had to pretend to put in the work.

Several weeks ago, Celine had returned trying to bring her down by using that Ian Rode, but her half sister had no idea that she had created a steady foothold for herself in the entertainment industry, and she couldn’t be taken down easily.

“Lily, your foot is so pretty, I bet every shoe you wear looks so good on you.” The young assistant giving her a foot massage complimented fawningly.

A light smirk sat on Lilian’s enchanting lips.

“Hm, I rejected a few shoots for some designer shoe brands, they were all just pestering me. I mean, I’m not a shoe model, but these brands just always seem to come around to me asking for a collaboration.” Lilian remarked, a hint of arrogance curving her eyes.

“That’s only because they see how pretty these shoes would look on you, even some shoe models don’t have feet like these, of course they want their brands to sell well, and just the association with your name would make them sell a thousand pairs in just a few hours.”

She smirked lightly, “Don’t exaggerate Kelly.”

“I actually really agree with Kelly, your feet are like so remarkably pretty.” The makeup artist chimed in, not wanting to be left out of the chance to bootlick a star.

The smile on Lilian’s face made the makeup artist feel encouraged to continue. “By the way, Lily, there have been a few rumors about you lately.”

“Really, what kind of rumors?” Lilian asked.

“People say you’re dating one of Neville’s hottest billionaires.”

Lilian laughed heartily at those words, being associated with the best of the best when it came to the people around her circle was something she prided herself with. As for the circle of the high and mighty billionaires, it was something she was trying to sqeaze her way into. She usually dispelled rumors before it took root, but rumors like these were things she allowed to fester and grow on its own, neither denying not accepting them.

“Many of the eligible billionaires are either married or engaged, how could I get a chance to date one?”

Truth be told, Lilian had once set her eyes on one such person, but even as her fame rose, she was never given a chance to be anywhere around him. She tried to use the connection of her father’s company to breach into the man’s life, but not once had she been allowed to meet him, eventually he was taken off the market and announced as engaged. Tristan Grayson, it was really a pity she had missed that train.

“Well, this man they’re talking about is very handsome, he is quite elusive and doesn’t really show much of himself to Neville, but he is super wealthy and very fit for someone as beautiful and elegant as you.”

“Oh? Does this man have a name?” When Lilian spoke, she made it sound deliberately teasing. One would think the rumors might be true and she really was dating this person but was keeping it a secret, this would make the rumors hard to die down and her reputation would undoubtedly soar.

“His name is Julian Grant, the owner of the Eclipse Groups, they have chains of exclusive restaurants all over Neville.”

Lilian had never even met the man before but even celebrities didn’t have the liberty to place an order in Eclipse Kitchen, they were exclusive and it made them even more highly sought after.

He was a remarkable man. It got Lilian thinking… perhaps it was time she sought the man out for more publicity.

When the makeup was done, Lilian was heading to the audition as she was called in last, it would seal the show and make people believe she had given an astounding performance of her character, but just as she reached the audition venue, a voice coming from within made her stop in her tracks.

“…your heart and mine became one, how can I ever forget?”

Standing on the audition platform was a familiar figure wearing tight fitting silver bodysuit quite similar to her own. Lilian narrowed her eyes and looked closer. That figure stood firm and tall, radiating the confidence and power the script required for Astrid, the powerful female character of the Sci-fi romance movie The Stars We Steal.

When she turned, her blue eyes shimmered with tears and an unbelievable pain, she was no longer Celine in that scene, she was Astrid, the woman who had gone through fire, bled and broken to reunite with the man she loves.

It had always been like this, whenever Celine played a character, she would completely transform into that character on scene.

Lilian’s hands slowly turned into fists.

“Why the hell is she here?” Lilian bellowed to her assistants who frantically stepped back in fear, no one wanted to be in the same space as Lilian when she was this angry.
