Chapter 23: He Left

Tristan ignored the small ache in his chest as he got up and quickly put on some clothes, he strode decisively towards the door but his steps unconsciously came to a halt and his eyes drifted towards the bathroom one more time.

For a second, his rigid expression almost melted.

There was a strong urge to turn his steps, walk into the bathroom and introduce her to the new delights of sex in the shower.

He let out a low curse, just the thought of it was causing his body to heat up, reacting fiercely to the image of her bathed in the warm shower of water droplets.

He had to leave because he was certain if he set his eyes on her again, he wouldn’t be able to control himself. She had that effect on him, making him lose control even when he fought it.

Without waiting for another second longer, he left the suite.

Upon stepping out of his private elevator, he met Kaleb who was leaning against the wall, the latter immediately broke off a big yawn when he spotted Tristan.

“President.” Kaleb greeted quickly, traces of exhaustion in his eyes however it didn’t stop the hints of gossip in his gaze as he looked behind Tristan into the elevator which was about to close as if expecting to see someone walk out behind his boss.

“What are you doing here?” There was a special kind of coldness to Tristan’s voice that Kaleb heard but very rarely on days his displeasure had skyrocketed. This kind of coldness seemed to manipulate the environment itself, making everywhere turn cold.

“President, you texted me last night saying I should come here and provide anything the person in your suite needs.” Kaleb replied wondering why his boss was asking when he was the root cause of his sleeplessness for a whole night.

Though it was nothing new, Kaleb had worked forty six to forty seven hours in a row before all thanks to his boss’s workaholic nature. What could he say, being Tristan Grayson’s personal assistant and secretary was a full time job in the literal sense, but it wasn’t something he would be caught complaining to his boss about since his salary compensated for even more than those hours of work.

Luckily there was a guest loveseat at the lounge area of this exclusive suite, Kaleb had managed to steal a few moments of sleep there while waking up every thirty minutes to check his phone to see if his boss or the mysterious guest he suddenly had in his suite needed anything.

Along with grumbling in complaints to himself, Kaleb had also tried to figure out who the special guest his boss had actually given access to his suite could be. No one had come up, because every single person in the man’s life was kept at a boundary where they weren’t allowed to invade his private spaces, except for one special person though…but Kaleb knew that person wouldn’t be here at his boss’s suite when she would always be at the Blakewood manor.

In this world, there was no one else Tristan Grayson made an exception for but her, however since there was no way she could be here, who was this other person he could have made an exception for and allowed into his suite?

“President, your guest last night, who…”

“I’ll need you to buy some female clothes Kaleb, bring it back here to the suite.” Tristan cut him off with this order and walked past him.

He didn’t look back…from today onwards, Celine Roberts would become a distant dream, one he had to forget, one that would cease to exist for him.

A few minutes later, Celine stepped out of the warm sprays of the shower. She stood before the bathroom mirror her body wrapped in a towel, a small smile hung on her lips as the memory of the whole night’s experience flashed in her mind, her cheeks couldn’t help but burn slightly, dyed a deep shade of red. She bit her lips as she glanced at the door.

’I wonder if he’s awake yet.’ Celine thought to herself. She felt a bit shy to see him again after the wild night they both just experienced.

What would she even say to him?

Would she even be able to look him straight in the eye? Though she wanted to, there was a certain look in his eyes she had seen in between the heated moments that made her toes curl and her heart flutter repeatedly.

His words came back to her, replaying in her mind as a deep echo.

’I want to have you again, Celine. Over and over again.’

Her smile grew wider and she blushed down to her roots feeling the urge to hide her face.

’Ah, I might not be able to face him again.’ She squealed into her palms muffling the sound of her voice.

She might not be able to face him because she was feeling extremely shy, but then she wanted to see him… actually, every part of her was singing in anticipation of seeing him. Her heart wouldn’t stop beating fast. There was an eagerness growing within her.

Never before had she thought she would be desired by a man in this way, and neither had she imagined she could desire a man this way as well.

It all still felt like a bizarre dream to her. If anyone had told her that she would do something as crazy as sleeping with a complete stranger, she never would have believed it.

Just the thought of walking out of the bathroom and seeing Tristan again felt so…she had no exact words for it, she was excited but didn’t know what she would do or say, and her heart felt…she couldn’t describe exactly how her heart was feeling either. But it wasn’t a bad feeling, it was nerve-wracking yet exciting.

In the past, she had always imagined what the first night of love after her wedding would be like, she had imagined so many things but not even in her wildest dreams did she ever think it would feel like this.

Maybe it was because she had been thinking about it with the wrong person, Tristan had opened up a whole new world for her, one that she had never threaded on before and it had been the best experience.

Her blonde hair fell straight down her shoulders, still somewhat damp from the shower but towel dried, her lips looked rosier, having a natural pink hue but somewhat swollen from his kisses and her blue eyes were sparkling brighter than ever, she looked even more enchanting.

Celine checked herself one final time in the mirror, lightly brushing her fingers through her hair. She didn’t want to appear messy in front of him, for some reason she wanted to look her best in front of him and felt quite disappointed that she didn’t have a few things here with her to prep herself up before she would go out of the bathroom.

Taking a deep breath, she walked to the door, after just a little bit of hesitation she turned the knob and stepped out into the room but froze afterwards.

She glanced left and right, but it was still the same. The room was… empty.

The bedsheets were still rumpled, and messy, a clear sign of what had transpired on it the night before, but the man she had left sleeping was no longer there.

She assumed he was probably in the outer room of the suite, but stepping out he was nowhere to be seen. That was when she caught a glimpse of the sun peeking out of the horizon from the floor length glass windows, it was morning already, which meant…their night was over.

“He left.” Downcast, she mumbled to herself as a wave of disappointment rushed into her rapidly killing off every trace of excitement in her heart.
