Chapter 40: Her Again

Erica wrapped her legs around his waist, pushing her body up into him.

She was incredibly happy in this moment, incredibly expectant. After they had sex, he would be hers completely right?

He wouldn’t be able to deny what they shared, and if by chance this led to conception…she would be the very first woman to have a child who would become an heir to two huge conglomerates. The Blakewood empire, and the Grayson Corp.

If tonight didn’t lead to conception, other nights would… Erica made it a firm goal to aim for, however her thoughts of grandeur and dreams of a future with Tristan suddenly came to a harsh pause when he suddenly stopped.

She glanced at him with questions in her eyes.

Why did he stop?

Unable to allow the heat to just dissipate, Erica reached up to pull him down and continue kissing him but he didn’t allow it, suddenly pulling away from her body as if she was made of fire and it burned him, disgusted him.

Erica couldn’t let this happen, it was as if one moment she were in heaven, glimpsing the beauty of a new future, but all of a sudden she was plunged down to earth harshly.

Without a word, he got up and sat at the edge of the bed.

“What’s wrong?” She asked, contemplating if she should touch him or not. He had a look of repulsion in his eyes just now, a look of self reproach as if he had done something he found absolutely repulsive.

Was it because he had kissed her? Did kissing her disgust him that much?

He didn’t reply, his fingers dug through his hair and he let out a low curse.

She had never once come this far before, she had never had the chance to get in his bed, how could she let it end just like that when she was this close?

Erica reached forward and touched him, feeling the firm muscles on his back against her fingers. She began to massage his body seductively moving closer to him.

It would be foolish to give up when she was this close, sitting naked in his bed. All she needed to do was something to turn him on. Men liked that right? Watching women do seductive and sexy things to flip on the switch that would make them go absolutely feral in bed.

“Why did you stop, we were going to have fun right?” She spoke by his ear then licked his earlobe while pressing her chest against his back.

“Are you stressed? I can help you relax, you don’t have to do much, I’ll do everything. Just lie back and let me take over…” Her voice drawled alluringly and she pressed kisses around his back but he suddenly went stiff raising his head from where he lowered it onto his palm.

Erica suddenly found herself taking her hands off him, his hazel eyes flashed with a deadly cold sheen, his whole expression looked rigid and his aura oozed a strange murderous intent.

“Get out!” He ordered with a low calmness in his voice, a kind of calmness that didn’t show on his face with how cold he looked.

“What? What did I do? I was just…”

“I said, OUT!” His voice was a deep resounding growl of pure rage, holding a kind of threat that Erica wouldn’t dare to miss with.

With confusion in her eyes, Erica picked up her clothes slowly while stopping to look over at him a few times but there was still the same expression on his face.

His eyes were staring at nothing but it seemed he was staring at something he wanted to burn down with his gaze. He looked…scary and no one would be able to stay around him when he looked this infuriated.

Erica wanted to say something, wanted to ask him…where had it gone wrong? Where had she gone wrong? How could he turn her away when they had almost gone the whole way? Was she unexciting or did he not find her sexy enough?

However she didn’t dare say a word or ask the questions she had in mind.

Could this be related to what happened about a month ago?

Erica thought as she recalled how strange he had been acting since then.

At the time, the media had suddenly released images of him to the public, and Erica later found out he had done it deliberately. For the longest time, his appearance had been kept a mystery to the public except close business acquaintances and his employees at the company, why did he suddenly change his mind?

Erica might not truly be that close with Tristan, but she tried to maintain a closeness to his assistant Kaleb, however there were times Kaleb didn’t reveal things to her which was very frustrating. At the time, no matter how much she had asked Kaleb, he never told her why Tristan made such a move.

Then a few days later when she had gone with him to the classic auction at Grooveshill, he had fervently auctioned for a blue colored ancient sapphire that changed colors in the sun. The jewel had a romantic greecian history, it was said to have been carved by an ancient Greek god for his lover.

It wasn’t something Tristan would be interested in, hence she hadn’t thought that he would bid on it, but he had. Erica had foolishly thought that he would have the gemstone made into a necklace or jewelry for her…she had been by his side for a long time right, surely he must have started seeing her worth.

But the next day, he had kept the jewel in a glass case, sitting on a tiny golden stool within the glass case. Erica had casually asked why he kept the jewel on display like that to which he had absentmindedly replied that it reminded him of someone’s eyes. No matter how much she had tried to ask who he was talking about, he had brushed her off.

Could it be…he was acting this way because of another woman?

The thought of it made Erica feel a constriction in her heart.

How could there be another woman in his life, he never spent more than a few hours with one woman, there was no way he could be thinking about a woman.

When Erica walked to the door after getting dressed, she turned to look back at him, a firm look of displeasure shone in her eyes before she pulled the door open and left.

The silence in his room swallowed Tristan…
